Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love This chair! I took this chair with me on a trip to Israel. Yes I know it is a backpacking chair. But after many days in the sand on the beaches of Tel Aviv I have no complaints. It packs small. Light weight. Comfortable. Durable. Easy and fast to put together and disassemble and pack up. Of course with it being light weight, it is not going to withstand strong winds if you are not sitting in it. But turn it over when you get up and it stays put. I did not have any problem with it not balancing in the sand. This chair will definitely be going with me as I head out backpacking. It is light enough that I can't imagine not having it from here on out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a log Thought I had to have it, got it, thought I wasted my moulah. Decided to keep it anyways, now I love it. I haven't taken it backpacking, but its been camping in campgrounds, to the beach, in the backyard, in my empty box teardrop camper it's low enough I can sit inside the teardrop. It works everywhere and is so light and small when in the case. No more lugging big chairs in and out anywhere. Will have to get more in case I ever have guests, cause its probably rude to sit in my comfy chair while they just take whats available if they come to my campsite. Easy to put together. PS don't leave it sitting out in wind, it's so light it may blow away

Rated 4 out of 5 by from it is the right tool for the right job very portable, very light weight chair best used for those times you need to walk in your own (music festival for example) or weight and bulk are issues (motorcycle touring). could also be used for a short backpack if the weight is not an issue and hate the outside so much that sitting on a rock or stump isn't an option. while sturdy (look at it rated carrying capacity!) and comfortable enough, assembled it is low to the ground. this can make it a little difficult to stand up, and also does not make it comfortable enough or a good candidate for car camping or similar activities where weight and bulk is not an issue and a full sized portable chair will do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great chair, multiple uses After hiking all day, the last thing I wanted to do was sit on the ground. The Helinox chair is really comfortable, so comfy you don't want to get up to finish setting up camp. I like the fact that it keeps you off the ground and is the perfect height for me when getting up and down. I love the fact that when I stop for 15 minutes or so to take a break, i can put the chair together (in less than a minute) and put my pack in the chair, keeping it off the ground. The other use (which I love) is I use this to prop myself up in my tent. I don't insert the legs into the brackets, and laying the chair on its back I can sit in the chair, in my tent in comfort. Multi usese!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for us! We used the Alite Monarch chair for about 6 years and liked it. But as the years add on to us it became a little too low to the ground. After watching a YouTube review comparing this chair to the Alite we bought two from Moosejaw. We've used them several times now and are impressed. The additional ground sheet is a must for sand and gravel. The ground sheet works well and looks durable. The chair with ground sheet weighs more than the Alite, but it's worth it, especially for day hiking. We strap it to the side of a day pack. We like a long hike to a destination where we can enjoy lunch, read and relax before the return hike. So a chair is a must for us (in our 60s). We would buy this chair again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size does matter! Got a couple of these and I must say they are absolutely fantastic. Got nothing but "wows" when friends saw how small this thing packs down to compared to those massive chairs that can hold a beer in the arm rest. Isn't that what the top of a cooler is for? I can easily strap 2 of these to my Kelty pack frame for a great day hike. I tip I found and use are to place tennis balls on the feet of the chair to keep you from sinking into the sand or soft soil. Overall after sitting in this baby for hours on end, it's a great asset to my gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light, Small, and Comfortable I bought this chair for some general backpacking/car camping and ended up taking it on a kayak camping trip down the river and am I glad that I found room for it. It comes in a convenient carrying case, but if you're really trying to save space, it can break down and fit into many different nooks and crannies. This chair was great, but the only reason it gets 4 stars is because it doesn't always have the best support in sand like I've seen in some videos of similar chairs. Bottom Line: Worth the investment, stable on fairly solid ground, comfortable, easy to pack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great design! I purchased this chair for a trip overseas. I was very impressed by the design. It is lightweight, comfortable, and easy to set up. All of the poles are tethered together. However, ultimately, I returned the chairs for the chair one model instead. The chair one is almost a pound lighter. I feel like ounces become pounds and pounds become kilograms when traveling. Therefore, I went with the lightest chair possible. Impressed with Moosejaws purchase process, delivery, and ease of returns.

How agile must one be to rise out of this chair? Suitable for elderly folks?

Asked by: CAROL
HIya CAROL, thanks for your question! Considering that the seat is only 13.5 inches off the ground, I would think you would need some agility to get up and down. The Sunset Chair or Chair Two might be better choices for you. My favorite is the Chair Two Rocker. It's like a portable LayZBoy chair.
