Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient I bought the Grayl for a trip out of the country. It was very convenient to be able to filter my own water on the spot and not have to search for and purchase quality bottled water. I am not a fan of plastic, but this was the best filter I could find. There were no toxic odors emanating from any of the parts, which made it a keeper for me. I've tried other portable filters that use a straw for filtering, it was always extremely difficult to get the water to suck through the filters. This was great to use at the airport as well. I just brought the Grayl in empty and then after going through TSA found a drinking fountain and had safe quality water in less than a minute. The only thing is, it does look a little suspicious when you are filtering at the airport--so I still have to figure out how to make the process less conspicuous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use! What a great product. It's easy to use and so very useful. It purifies any fresh water and is so practical for nature lovers. Not to mention it is extremely light weight. Oh, an you can get replaceable filters!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, takes more strength than I imagined So far I love this product. I have had four chances to use it on short camping trips. While my friends were lugging around giant jugs of water, I just had my handy bottle. For the price and convenience, I definitely think it is a smart purchase. My only complaint is that I did not think it would take so much strength. You fill the outer shell with water and then push the filter into the full cup of water, ending with a fully purified bottle. The pushing down gets annoying and tiresome fill after fill. I would definitely still recommend it though.

Will this make pool water drinkable?

Asked by: Rachel
Hi Rachel! GRAYL's filtration/purification technology removes most of the chemicals in pool water, deeming it safe to drink. It is effective on all chlorine types (chloride, hypochlorate) and sulfur. However, it is not effective on the calcium ions that are left over - but we were told by GRAYL that it is nothing to worry about, and ingesting a little more calcium is good for your bones :)
