Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer I recently used the NMW Flashpoint XL duffle on a 5 week expedition including South America, a 24 day voyage to Antarctica, and Patagonia. The NMW duffle revolutionized my expedition packing as the duffle is 7,800 cu. in. and only weighs 4 lb. 3 oz! After many adventure travel expeditions this duffle changed the game being very lightweight to meet very strict airline rules and is extremely durable. Having used Eagle Creek duffles for over 20 years the NMW Flashpoint Rolling Duffel is now my top choice for adventure travel. My travel friend (an Eagle Creek user) spotted my NMW duffle bag and immediately ordered 2 for his next trip! Kudos on building the best duffle period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Matter What is the PERFECT NAME! Every year we take replacement linens, rugs, etc. down to our condo in Akumal Mexico. This year we are also taking two inflatable stand up paddle boards. Our other Eagle Creek rolling suitcases were not long enough to take the SUPs. These No Matter What rolling duffles are amazing. Each one is now loaded with one SUP with a long rug rolled up inside of it and large plastic glasses stuffed in each with 4 washcloths . The parts of the SUP that are breakable are padded with 5 bathmats, hand towels and a smaller rug. We couldn't believe it when we zipped it up and weighed them. 50# each! PERFECT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbeatable quality, durability, value Just completed 7 weeks in India - our 2 Eagle Creek rolling duffels still look brand-new, absolutely no signs of wear and tear after being hauled on and off 10 flights, 4 trains, countless taxis, buses, rickshaws, in and out of 22 hotels, and dragged with little care along incredibly rough streets, paths, and "sidewalks". VERY impressed with them. Light weight allows for more "stuff" (our adventure travels require little in the way of clothing, but lots of equipment). Combine with a few Eagle Creek packing cubes for keeping everything organized.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Huge and Versatile Nice idea. Although you see plenty of duffel bags with rollers, none can be stored away with a small bag like this. Functionally this is great and I found it extremely versatile for my backpacking trip in Europe. Sometimes you want to roll (like in an airport), and sometimes you need to easily carry when the ground is rugged or crowded. Cheaper and bigger than an alternative like a switchback. Be aware that this bag (L) is as big as you can go if you want to check your bag with an airline. The XL version is oversized (Length + Width + Height must total 62 inches or less) My only problem is the huge logo on the bag, it is extremely tacky. Eagle Creek is mid-high end in terms of pricing, companies in that level should not be sticking huge tacky logos on their things. Yes, more people can easily see your logo if you make it huge, but does that lead to more sales? I don't think so, it'd just make me think jeez, what a tacky huge logo... Shine through your product design. No giant logos are necessary.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to pull and roll We purchased this bag for a East Africa trip because we were told not to have a rolling bag with pullout handles. I have enjoyed my other Eagle creek purchases especially the cubes. Recently we took this bag to Costa Rica and it was very difficult to handle and roll thru airports etc. It also developed some holes by the wheels probably due to trying to maneuver it over curbs. The main advantage is the light weight of the bag but wheels don't give much advantage because it constantly tips over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far great! Just used the bag on a 11 day vacation..it passed through airports and cruise ship handling great! No problems yet and still in great condition. I would suggest using the pack it system for everything to help hold structure as you pack the bag. We used the folding packs and cubes. Our other duffel has structured sides so a little easier to pack but with the packing system it's not too hard with this duffel, and then it folds up so small once you get to your destination and unpack. Great for tight spaces or small rooms.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from XL means XL Bought this to augment my "longer trip" baggage arsenal. Needed something just a little smaller that my really huge rolling trunk/rigid bottom/duffel/hybrid. I REALLY like this bag - size is perfect, it's well made, rolls great, and packs A TON of stuff, AND it rolls up when not in use to store in its own little bag...how great is that?! That being said...because the bottom is not rigid, it can be a little weird to roll around when it is not stuffed good and full, it wants to fold...sort of. It's not bad, not a "con", really, just ...unexpected, at first. Tethering/looping/snapping the front handle to a rigid carry-on seems to be the right way to roll with this bag, so far. It's such a great bag, though, I'm getting the next smaller version of this same bag for when I need a skosh LESS room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent bag I have several of these bags and use them for long-haul flights and travel around Africa. Good Stuff: The bags are hard-wearing and carry a great deal of stuff - like many EC bags, it's possible to get far more into them than you might expect. The zips, handles and fabric are tough enough to take being hauled and hurled around. The wheels make long transits much simpler. Because of the small size of the wheel plate, these bags will fit into the often extremely cramped conditions on board a light aircraft; they can also be pushed and squashed into most light aircraft cargo pods, which is extremely unusual for a wheeled bag. The compression straps work very well to hold down a load and reduce the size of the bag. The shoulder strap is a godsend and is comfortable even when the bag is heavily loaded. Less Good: Non-removable wheel plate (at least, I couldn't find a way to remove it; I'm happy to be corrected by anyone who has!) I've had to wash my bags on occasion and it would be good to be able to take the wheel plate out when doing so, as there's a risk of damaging both the bag and the washing machine with the plate and wheels still in place. The bag has a tendency to flip over when pulled by the end handle; I think this is an inevitable result of the small wheel plate. To my mind, it's worth the trade-off, but if you plan to pull this a lot, and don't absolutely need the advantages conferred by a lack of a stiff back-plate to the bag, you might want to consider a more traditional pull-along with a back plate and a handle.

Does this bag fit in the overhead compartment for air travel?

Asked by: Muffie1
Hey there, Based on current airline guidelines, the dimensions for the Eagle Creek No Matter What Flashpoint Rolling Duffel are too big for the overhead compartment. I hope this helps.
