Deuter Aircontact Back System

Deuter Aircontact System
The principle behind the Aircontact system is to bring the pack weight close to the hiker's center of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Cushions made from unique hollow chamber foam create a pump effect to move air more efficiently, and provide fantastic ventilation. The end result is up to 15% less perspiration for the hiker (proven in tests conducted by Gabriel L.&T and the University of Erlangen), and a pack that offers outstanding load transfer and a secure, perfectly balanced fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best bag ever. There is no other like it! I trekked and climbed on Mount Everest with this backpack. I know it is rated as 30kg carrying weight but believe it or not, as a solo climber, I loaded it up with 42kg's of gear and it was happy to take more (Yes I have stretch marks on my shoulders but that's not the backpacks fault) It's as tough as nails since it was dropped, dragged, sat on, stood on, rained on, fell on, and snowed on. I actually used it as a cushion if and when I fell, I'm pretty clumsy. The lid can actually take quite a bit of gear, actually more than it should because I ended up loading the lid with stuff that I needed in a hurry but it made the pack a little top heavy for me. Very handy that the lid can be raised evenly with the 4 point adjustable straps, depending on how much stuff you put in the main compartment. The base is very cool for stuffing a sleeping bag in, without having to use the sleeping bags own pouch. Waist pocket is very cool, not really sure why the pack doesn't come with one on both sides, it is currently only fitted with a right waist pocket. Still, handy for a cell phone, ipod, camera etc. I love all the extra hooks and straps sowed to the bag, really cool for a mountaineer to hang gear from. Also for drying wet clothes while you trekking. I think I hung more gear externally than I did actually load inside the bag. The front outside kangaroo pouch is very cool and handy. I kept my Goal Zero solo panel folded up inside, easy to access and kept the solo panel upright. The straps are comfortable and again, they come with more hooks and places to hang things from. I have 2 of these packs, a red and a green so that's testimony alone that I am in favor. Deuter has my vote.

- + Size Guide

Deuter Men's Packs

Deuter technical and backpacking packs are offered in One Size for each volume, and feature an adjustable torso range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of a pack, and follow the steps below to determine your torso size.

Deuter hipbelts are adjustable to accommodate most any wearer.

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
