Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good when new I really liked these when they were new but they are wearing out too fast. The stainless steel is nice but a bit too soft to hold up to mixed climbing. After one season of use they are worn as much as my Petzl Darts had worn after 5 years. Also the front point needs to be refined for better penetration and less ice displacement in hard ice. TIpping the front point up about 2 degrees and reducing the point profile height would help. The teeth on the bottom side of the front point are basically just nubs and do very little to hold on the ice (take a look at Petzl Darts, Grivel G20, or Camp Blade Runner front points). I've taken a file to my front points and reshaped them resulting in a much better performance penetrating and holding in hard ice. I also had an issue with the aluminum inserts on the heel levers wearing out but BD replaced them under warranty. Overall these are good crampons and climb ice well but they lack in hard ice performance and durability. With some refinements they could be great crampons. I would ditch the stainless steel and opt for something harder and redesign the front point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made for the ICE This is a great crampon for ice climbing. This is my 5th pair of crampons and is my new favorite. The mono point sinks in well and feels solid on the ice. Fits ice climbing boots well, light weight, etc. I have no negative comments for this crampon. Good investment to maximize your outdoor enjoyment!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and effective. I just got my third pair of Stingers. I use them a lot so they just wear out. They are the best I know for water ice: light, precise and reliable. Excellent for mixed routes and dry tooling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid and Effective A great pair of crampons that get the job done on steep ice. The fine-tuner on the heel-bail is a great feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance, plain and simple While I still climb in my Cyborgs, these are now my go-to for pretty much all ice climbing. Less exertion for each foot placement means less fatigue as pitches pass beneath you. They are incredibly stable and look good to boot. Get a pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent on Ice and Rock I purchased these for climbing steeper ice and with the hope giving mixed climbing a shot. I have found these crampons to be excellent for both! Before these I climbed ice on BD Sabretooths, which themselves are amazing, but the stingers just feel so good and secure on steep ice. I trust my foot placements on all ice with these on my boots. Chandelier, bullet, pocketed, even wet slushy ice. I was somewhat hesitant to go mono points instead a dual/mono like the cyborgs, fearing that in soft ice they would slice out. I have yet to experience that problem, and I'm still out hunting for ice in mid April. The large/aggressive secondary points add a lot of security and balance when engaged. Be a surgeon, not a lumber jack when you are climbing ice. Stingers are perfect. Only thing to watch out for is the toe bails. Stingers come with the larger size bails, which I have discovered don't fit my Scarpa Mont Blancs or LS Nepals very well. So make sure to order some small ones too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and balanced These are my 2nd pair of crampons i have ever owned. Going from a second-hand pair of 90's 20-pt spikes to these, I think they are great. These are light, strong, and provide good purchase on the ice. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This crampon significantly improved my climbing! After climbing with dual point crampons for many years, I must say that the Black Diamond Stinger Crampon has completely changed my perception of what is possible in climbing ice! These crampons are lightweight, precise, and make me feel like a superhero!...or maybe I've just had a breakthrough in climbing ice??? Regardless, if you try them, you will be psyched!
