Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro-Features Set it Apart It's been a bomb-proof beacon. Traveled all over the nation skiing/climbing with it and it's held up remarkably well over the last 2.5 years. Battery life is outstanding. Inclinometer feature real simple to activate. My back country buddies rely on me to check their non-PIEPS PRO beacons for correct frequency transmissions. It's the go-to beacon among our mountain rescue and bc skiing crew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've used. Rescue function: It works great. The multi-burial scenario flagging works better than others I have tried. Also, it plays some games on the transmitter side to reduce signal overlap, and improve transmission if it detects interference. It seems reliable so far, and the range is the best of the newer digital transceivers I have used. Other: I really like the ability to test the frequency of other transceivers, and I am looking forward to picking up the compatible dog-collar when it is back in stock. Also, it is fairly small and light, and the harness works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Beacon! This beacon is compact, accurate, and very intuitive. The supporting documentation is very easy to understand, and makes the beacon even easier to use. As noted in other reviews, the sport model is a viable option if you do not want or need the extra features. I have seen one instance where the leash attachment point (on the beacon housing) has broken, but this is among over 6 units belonging to people I know. I trust BD will remedy that instance. When I hear of it, I will update this review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome thumbs up! Though steep price... I like the DSP Pro, but I LOOOVVVE the DSP Sport! The extra features of the Pro: extra 10m, frequency check, doggie thing, and inclinometer are cool, but the price for them is STEEP ($100)! I own an Ortovox S1+, Mammut Barryvox Element, and the DSP Sport. I give the DSP Pro 5 stars because it really is awesome, but I will advise that there are better beacon return on investments out there, namely the DSP Sport!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Powerful Receive/Transmit Range Gotta love having everyone on the team line up and test the range of their beacons. At 60m, a few of us were still receiving the test signal. At 70m, it was just me with the DSP Pro. And it went out a few more meters still. When on transmit, it consistently gave out the strongest signal during search practice. The 3-way antenna results in quick and accurate search results. Find your first buried subject, mark it, and move on quickly to the next one. Two thumbs up. Easy to use. Great battery life. And as far as I have experienced, the strongest send/receive capability of new beacons by several meters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Avalanche Beacon Compact, intuitive, fast, detailed and easy to use. Had a Tracker 2 before this beacon. Tracker 2 is great for ease of use but after getting comfortable with it and understanding the Tracker 2 I wanted to know more details of the "big picture" of an avalanche rescue. The Peips DSP Pro gave me that ability to see more of what was going on and be even more confident during a search. Peips DSP Pro nailed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, acurate and dependable PIEPS has a great legacy and has been in the game for a long time. Love this new beacon! Fast, accurate and loaded with functions. Was able to consistently get fastest times on the mountain for practices searches while patrolling at Snow Basin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Learn, great function My previous Search and Rescue team used these as their issued beacons. They are quick and easy to teach and learn with and require very little maintenance. We used the previous versions as well. The battery life on them was great because of overnight deployments or back-to-back searches so we rarely had to exchange batteries. If it was a full bar, the extra batteries we carried were better used for headlamps. The range would frequently pick up outside of the advertised range, which made searching a hair faster, but when you're dealing with seconds that's important. Flagging and scan function help for multiple burials, a few people can start digging the first subject out while the rest of the team continues to look for additional subjects. We also used the TX600 transmitter for our search dog. We cross checked the frequency of the beacons at the beginning of each year to make sure the frequencies didn't drift too far to cause issues during an incident. The harness is also very comfortable, to the point that I don't notice that I'm wearing, even with a pack.
