DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket Well I have worn this jacket for the past month in -30 + wether and I’ve been way hot in it the hood on it fits perfectly over a climbing helmet and is vary comfortable under a harness I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to by a down jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to puff It's been up the Tetons in mid fall and was proficiently warm in below freezing temps. Great for long winter belays and late night walks home from my college exam.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid but leaks feathers! Solid jacket. Warm, comfy, solid length, featured. Nice stretchy cuffs. Internal drop pockets for water bottles, shoes, whatever. Good over-helmet hood. Comes down to butt length rather than hip, really boosting the warmth. Lacks a two way zipper, which is weird for a belay-type parka with a longer cut. My jacket (2015 model) leaks lots of feather. Not sure if I got a dud jacket or if the stitching is bad on these models. However, after every break it looks like I killed a chicken after I take this off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Warm This jacket comes everywhere with me. It is so warm and reliable. Any trip I go on that will have chilly evenings, this thing makes the gear list 100% of the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super legit Looking forward to using this in the Alps this winter. I'll post a review upon return. Obviously won't be at the peak with this on...but I'll give it a shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid This jacket has been the main piece of insulation in my system on a number of climbs in sub freezing temps. It is definitely too warm if you are working hard, but whenever you are at a standstill, for a belay or just a rest, the Cold Forge is a dependable piece of equipment against the cold. It is highly packable and extremely warm for a jacket that isn't full down. The Cold Forge performs well above expectation. This jacket even kept me going in an open bivy at 14,000 ft. with temps in the high teens. I would never recommend that situation, but I would recommend this jacket every time!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Part of the warmest layering stystem I've ever had I picked up this jacket last year and it kept me cozy on patrol this winter down past -30 when layered with a shell and a poly base layer. Great slim fit on a medium for layering in the middle. Fits an athletic body type. Only gets a four star because of the wrist to hood molting going on from dozens of micro tips. I just wish someone could come up with a more durable puffy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good jacket, changed from previous version I own the previous version, which had the diagonal looking baffles. I liked it so much I decided to add a second, my work gear often gets stored at a station and I wanted one for daily use. It's still a solid puffy but I noticed some differences that I wouldn't have changed. First is the fleecy collar, it's gone. Maybe that saves weight but that fleece wrapped around the neck and added significant comfort and extra warmth, I miss it with the new one. Second, I've compared it back and forth with the old one because I thought I was nuts at first, but the new one seems notably less filled and as a consequence less warm. This likely improves the packability and maybe there were complaints the old one went overboard but I loved how it was. Warmest puffy I've owned, and the new one is closer in warmth to the competitors. Lastly the cuffs are pretty loose, and I've seen other reviews around that note that so I don't think it's just mine. Build quality otherwise is still top notch, I still love the jacket and wore it with frequency until it warmed up. These changes I assume were intentional and others may enjoy them, but I honestly thought it was a great jacket as is. I'm 6'4", 220 and a bit lanky with bigger shoulders. Xl with BD sometimes works and sometimes it's too small. This jacket is a perfect fit all around including sleeve length and healthy amount of room for layers.
