The Half Dome helmet is a cool looking, low-profile helmet that combines a rigid shell with a webbing suspension system. Without obscuring your vision, the sculpted shell offers maximum head coverage and protection. The suspension system offers great comfort and contributes to good ventilation because there is ample room for heat to escape. To fit a variety of different head sizes, a foam-padded crown strap is easily adjusted using a Velcro closure system. You can take the Half Dome climbing anywhere on rock or ice and you might make it halfway home before you realize you're still wearing it.

  • Suspension's custom wheel adjuster allows for improved fine-tuning of fit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protection This helmet saved me from at the very least a severe concussion, but more than likely an extended hospital stay. I was hit by a softball sized rock from probably about 20 - 30 feet while belaying. I was knocked down (but not out). Except for being stunned with a minor headache, I was uninjured. I was back on the wall after a short rest with no lingering issues. The plastic shell had a visible crack in it. When I returned home, I took out the EPS foam which was clearly deformed from the impact. I'll be picking up my replacement helmet before my next outing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for zip lining and GoPro in Costa Rica! Fits very well, adjustable for correct fit under chin. If your head size is right in between SM/ML, go with the bigger helmet for sure. My new wife and I each got one for mounting our GoPro hero 4 black and Cat Eye Volt 300. Perfect set up if you ask me. Very pleased Ps, one slight improvement I'd make (but helmet is great as is) is a thin padded cover over the bottom of the chin strap. With added mouts and weight, strap can cut into me a bit. Offering and optional add on would be awesome. Thank you, helmet is 9/10 and customer service while returning my sm for a ml size went easy as possible, and quick! ... G&A Duoos

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight helmet that is a bargain for the price. I bought this helmet about 2 years ago because it was a bargain price for such a great helmet. ,,,,I hit my head alot while climbing and it gives me that extra comfort while I am climbing multi-pitch. Protects me from loose rocks, like while climbing Castleton Tower on the Cor-Engales route. ,,,,Ventilation is not all that great but that was never an issue with me.,,,,Mine has stickers, dings, scraps and contour video mounts all over.,,,,I saw reviews saying it was hard to adjust to their heads, I guess I have a perfect melon because I have never had an issue getting a perfect fit.,,,,All in all it is a great helmet for the price, especially for an entry level climber.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from gets the job done If you're climbing or belaying (outside of the gym) you should be wearing a helmet. This one is durable enough to last you years of service, and is priced to be entry level. No, its not ultra-lightweight, but it has a one-handed adjustable backstrap, and doesn't actually look half bad. Note: when you first get it, adjust the sizing of the straps, including moving the chin strap forward if you need to (you can feed strap from one side to the other via the back of the helmet). This prevents the feeling of being choked by the chin strap, which shouldn't happen if it's properly adjusted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of equipment Excellent helmet that does the job with few frills and a great price. The headlamp clips are super handy for keeping your light attached and the helmet itself is very breathable. My wife had the unfortunate opportunity of testing hers out and it very well may have saved her life. Some loose rock gave way during a recent decent and after a summersault she caught her fall on the side of her head. She walked away with only some bumps and scrapes. The helmet did its job and despite some minor scratches is still very serviceable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my marriage It all started when I had my first fall lead climbing, the wife started to nag about how dangerous it was and how I could at least invest in a helmet... Like other things, I put it off for about as long as I could. Eventually, our marriage turned sour. There no longer was dinner ready when I came home from work. I stopped getting head scratches on movie night, and worst of all, I found myself having to do my own laundry. Things just weren't the same to say the least. So, I did what any good man should do, I swallowed my pride and bought the helmet. It wasn't long after the helmet arrived that I found things slowly go back to normal. Dinner was ready at 6pm, laundry was folded and put away, and she was talking to me again. So, in conclusion, not only is this helmet super comfy, light, and at a great price. I would recommend it to anyone who is having relationship problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good workhorse At the outfitter that I work for (Wilderness Pursuits) the Half Dome helmet makes up our entire rental fleet, and with good reason. It is a durable, reliable, and light helmet, and if standing up to the test of countless rentals doesnt speak for itsself, then I dont know what does. If you are looking for a helmet that will last through years of abuse and will still preform, I recommend the Half Dome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tried and True Ahhh the Half Dome helmet. What can you say? I think I have three of them. They perform like a helmet should and have saved my dome from it's fair share of falling ice. It fits well and keeps my head warm on chilly ice routes. The only downside it the rear retention straps are hard to pack away, but that has been addressed on their new models. A great inexpensive trustworthy helmet.
