Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best poles I taking into the wilderess I mean, what else can I say, other than for alpine or hiking outings these are the best poles I've owned. The are light, but not fragile. The compact Z design makes them easy to collapse and stash.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Brought a set of these poles a week ago. Find that the top join keeps separating, not just when the tip is caught in grass and leaves etc, but also whilst walking over firm surfaces. Can't see anyway to tighten the join other than using some tape that defeats the purpose of having a collapsible pole suitable to packing whilst travelling. Would not recommend if this is a general issue. Maybe I just purchased a defective pole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BD Distance Carbon Pole Review I bought these poles a month ago and got to take them out on a 3-day trip through the Maine Wilderness. We summited Katahdin on day 1 and did 30+ miles. The poles were good but not great. I ordered the longest length (130cm) (i'm 6'0") possible thinking that I could shorten them down using the grip adjustment for going uphill. I was able to do this with my older model (less expensive BD Z poles), but these new ones were only able to function at their top length and at the lower length. Aside from that, i beat them up and they performed excellent on boulder field crossings, stream crossings, and steep uphill travel. All that said, make sure you buy the appropriate length, and I think i could have sized down one length

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Light I bought these poles a month ago after reviewing and trying as many different poles for running. I actually started with the adjustable Leki's which are also great, but I realized that I had purchased a size too large so I gave them to my husband. I finally went with the Carbon Z's (non adjustable) because a. I liked the way the grip felt, b. they are so light you forget you have them, c. they easily fold up small enough to stick in my pack. The only thing I preferred about the Leki's was the glove type grip rather than the loop which can get slightly uncomfortable on a long trek. The lighter weight won out in the long run (no pun intended) though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking poles you can buy! I've used these for 5 years and they are still going strong. And they only weigh almost nothing! The main use for these has been going up and down steep approaches/descents on rock climbs (sometimes with a haul bag or heavy pack). Huge talus has rolled over the poles, I've dropped the haul bag on the poles, etc, the poles flex but they don't break. Both wrist loops eventually wore out, and I replaced them with 1/2" red climbing webbing. It was a 5 minute fix, and they are back at it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super light and stiff! I have used these on two long, steep, mountain runs, one of which involved crossing a glacial stream. I found them to be perfect for providing push going up the steep bits, and for extra traction on the loose descents. They are so light, there is no reason not to have them along. They are quite stiff, which really helps transfer power to the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light superb We have used Distance Carbon Z trekking poles in the Alps, Peru, Asia and at home after ice-storms since they first became available. Easy on your arms and do the job as well as heavy duty poles except in deep wet snow, This pair replaces one pilfered from checked baggage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last set I'll need to but for a long, long time. I used these during my thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2013. They held up to everything, and I still use the same poles today. I even use them during the cold winter months of interior Alaska while I snowshoe. Though I am very careful how I use them at cold temps since word on the street is that they don't hold up to very cold temps well. After about 3,000 miles of use I finally replaced the tips (before and after photo below), and now I think I can get another 3,000 miles out of them. :)

Is the 10 oz. weight listed for the Distance Carbon Z for one pole or for the pair of poles?  Thanks

Asked by: Mark Miller
Thanks for the question! The weight listed is for the pair, not per pole. And it looks like it varies per size option. I will get that information updated asap. In the mean time, below is the weight for each size. I hope this helps! 100 cm - 9 oz 110 cm - 9 oz 120 cm - 10 oz 130 cm - 10 oz
