Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super light and stiff! I have used these on two long, steep, mountain runs, one of which involved crossing a glacial stream. I found them to be perfect for providing push going up the steep bits, and for extra traction on the loose descents. They are so light, there is no reason not to have them along. They are quite stiff, which really helps transfer power to the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light superb We have used Distance Carbon Z trekking poles in the Alps, Peru, Asia and at home after ice-storms since they first became available. Easy on your arms and do the job as well as heavy duty poles except in deep wet snow, This pair replaces one pilfered from checked baggage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last set I'll need to but for a long, long time. I used these during my thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2013. They held up to everything, and I still use the same poles today. I even use them during the cold winter months of interior Alaska while I snowshoe. Though I am very careful how I use them at cold temps since word on the street is that they don't hold up to very cold temps well. After about 3,000 miles of use I finally replaced the tips (before and after photo below), and now I think I can get another 3,000 miles out of them. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very light, great packed size, can be hard to fold I've used them for hiking and trail running for a few years. Just broke one falling into a stream in the Wind Rivers and will be ordering another pair. The reviewer who asked for a single rigid pole doesn't understand the many alpine climbing situations in which one wants to carry the poles, and these poles fold up small enough to put in a 17L pack or lash to a running vest. I'd give them five stars except for their propensity to seize up and be hard to fold. The buttons can get very hard to depress, requiring a stick or rock or pliers. People have mentioned that the button rusts, which is true, but I think that is a cosmetic problem that still should be fixed, but is not the real reason for inoperability of the buttons, which I suspect is related to excessive cord tension in the pole. This in turn seems to be related to humidity---I have the seizing problem far more in the humid East than in the dry West. I can often relieve the seizing, after somehow getting the button depressed, by twisting the pole sections. It seems as if the cord can be twisted and and so shortened, as the sections can rotate when the pole is in use, and then proper twisting of the sections undoes the cord twists and so lengthens the cord, relieving the excess pressure on the joint and button. Using an oval rather than circular cross-section would solve this if it is in fact the problem. Why the cord twisting, if it really happens, occurs more in humid conditions than dry ones I do not know. As for the baskets catching, yes, that happens. I suspect it will always find a way to happen, regardless of basket placement and size, so don't see any serious point in making modifications. That said, it would certainly be nice if we could swap out the hiking basket for a snow basket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light as a feather I bought these poles for the Leadville 100 mile run and I am so glad I did! I can power up hills like never before. I never realized how much stress they take off your legs. I don't care for the air flow grips because they run after a while of using them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've become a trekking pole fan! I have used these poles for over 100 miles now and am sold on hiking poles and have become a huge fan of these. The grips are long which allows for various hold positions. Super lightweight, and I love the fast deployment. My hiking group has pole envy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly light!! Bought these for a 24 hour adventure race. Trekking section was 17 miles of running/hiking/orienteering. Super light, easy to store, and the non-adjustability wasn't an issue. Exactly what I was looking for.

Is the 10 oz. weight listed for the Distance Carbon Z for one pole or for the pair of poles?  Thanks

Asked by: Mark Miller
Thanks for the question! The weight listed is for the pair, not per pole. And it looks like it varies per size option. I will get that information updated asap. In the mean time, below is the weight for each size. I hope this helps! 100 cm - 9 oz 110 cm - 9 oz 120 cm - 10 oz 130 cm - 10 oz
