Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great design but too heavy I am a huge fan of the Beta Light and used it while hiking the CDT. It was particularly buggy in Montana and I decided to pack the Beta Bug as well. It works great and is roomy. It is also super easy to set up. Definitely more easy than most tents on the market in the rain without if getting soaked on the inside. My biggest complaint is that with the addition of the Beta Bug this brings my tarp/tent to the same weight (just over 3 pounds) as two of my other light weight 2 person tent options even with the tent pole included in the weight. There are other tarp tent options out there offering bug protection that shave half pound or more of the weight of the Beta system. My suggestion is to get your engineering/design team to reassess the materials used in the Beta Bug construction and reduce weight there. I realize that the floor may end up not being as durable but most using this system will be packing/using a footprint or piece of tyvek under the Beta Bug. That with the addition of some closeable vents to reduce condensation on the Beta Light would put this system at the top of my list. If there are no bugs the Beta Light is my go to every time. There have been no changes to the Beta Bug that I know of since it came out. Come on Diamond Brand a little adjustment would go a long way. BTW this system is not conducive to a couples situation because of the poles being in the middle of the tarp/tent. But how many of us can find someone to trek for months in the wilderness with us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Tent! I picked up a beta-mid years ago and it is my primary tent for all seasons and all conditions -- even high winds - you just have to have some practice and foresight when setting it up. Heading out on a potentially buggy trip this last week I went ahead and picked up a beta-bug -- a great choice. Essentially, with trekking poles, it is a quick, bomber 2-person tent that is very light and versatile. However, you can also string it up between a couple of trees, couple the two pieces together and you've got a really roomy 3 - person structure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Option I bought the Beta Bug Tent because I already had purchased the Beta Light Tent and I wanted to have the option of using it anywhere and anytime. The problem you run into with any tarp shelter is water running underneath you in hard downpours, as well as pesky bugs in warmer climates. This is the solution that keeps you from having to buy another tent. I really like the way that they paired the two together, you really have a lot more options with this tent then any other tents I have owned. And one of the best parts about it is the trekking poles you always have are the tent poles! That is a huge cut in weight and bulk. The Beta Bug is slightly larger when packed then the Beta Light. That being said it is still a better option than another tent, and is still smaller and more packable than most. Also it is very roomy, plenty of space for 2 with gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great companion to the Beta light tent very nicely constructed. Fairly easy to pitch, but would be much easier if there was a rear zipper to place and retrieve the rear treking pole. packs very small, very little weight.
