Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great day pack I've used my axis 33 for 3 years for ice climbing, winter and summer climbing and summit bagging. It is super easy to lash ice tools, crampons, rope, and helmet. Size is perfect for me to pack everything I need for extremes in temperatures and activity level. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it is hard to access the pack while carrying a rope or with a helmet in the external helmet carrier. The material has held up great to lots of travel and abuse. The pack hugs my back and does not affect my balance (even with 20#s loaded) while talus hopping or rock climbing on the peaks. This is my go to pack for all my activities except multi-night trips (for that I use my Mission 75).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Go To Pack I have owned this pack (2013 model) for over a year now. I have used it in the French and Swiss alps many times in mixed conditions as well as just my go to rock climbing pack for a day out. It excels in a mixed environment well over any of my other alpine style packs. The ability to throw your crampons on the outside if you need a little more room is awesome, as is the way the bag holds you ice ax. It also features a strap to secure a rope over the top of the pack as well as a helmet compartment. In a long approach it is very handy to free up all the space from the inside of the pack and I am glad they thought of every last detail. The suspension system is incredibly comfortable as well. It is very easy to climb in. I plan on taking it up the Matterhorn this July, and I wouldn't consider any other pack for the task.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so far so good! As an active SAR member I have a variety of packs that are used throughout the year. This smaller lighter pack is used for mission specific use. Holds just what I need and emergency supplies. Makes for a great hasty team pack. Feels good and not encumbering while "hanging from a rock"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Bag Pack fits everything I need for a day climbing perfectly. No problems at all with the hip system in fact it is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth, like butter on linoleum. I've had this bag for the past six months. I've used it nearly everyday. I have been changing the loadout for daily trips to the gym, climbing gym, ice walls and now the crag. It handles around 30 lbs comfortably. The suspension is amazing. While scrambling up the side entrances to top roping sections the bag really allows you to move well as the waist-belt rotates. The shoulders also allow independent movement as they have a single steel cable that connects them through the bottom of the pack. You have to exaggerate your movements to feel it in store but when you're out you'll move freely; like an ice dancer minus the tights and makeup. Maybe. The ice specific carry options are great, I paired Petzl Caritools since I like the way they attach better than the BD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect winter day pack I've used this several times in the last few weeks. It is extremely comfortable and moves well with my body over broken terrain. I have no negative comments on this pack. It is large enough (35L) to spend an overnight if required. I get a lot of comments on it. This is a well thought out design, great job Black Diamond.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Upper shoulder straps are terrible Unfortunately for being such a cool pack, it looks like Black Diamond somehow completely messed up the design of how the upper shoulder straps connect to the pack. The two straps merge into one solid piece by the neck, which ends up cutting into the neck in a very uncomfirtable way when there is a slight load. I wanted this pack to work SO BAD that I even ordered it in multiple sizes to try to get the right fit. Unfortunately, it's just a bad design.
