The Black Diamond 9.9 Rope is a mighty rope for handling constant use and abuse. Ranging in lengths from 35m or 40m (for indoor climbing) to 60m or 70m (for outdoor rock climbs). The thick diameter is burly and the feel on the hands is still soft enough for easy handling. When life is about climbing, and you're out almost every day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from durable climbing rope While this rope is intended for rock climbing and not the tree climbing I am using it for, it has proven to be a strong durable rope. Tree climbing ropes are usually less stretchy than this and would be better for my purpose, but I was in a time crunch and needed a rope right away. I did not have time to order one. So having the Moosjaw store here in Kansas City allowed me to get on with my work. I'm climbing using two Blake's Hitches on a doubled rope system. This rope does not tie to itself real well. It's a little slick. But I was able to remedy that by adding a Prussic Loop to the static portion of the rope with a carabiner to tend the working Blakes hitch. Adding a prussic foot loop to the working side of the rope makes climbing even easier. I'm confident this would be a fine rock climbing rope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice-handling rope... Indeed - just the right length and diameter for the gym (or even "real climbing" outside I suppose)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handles well, excellent sheath texture I have been a big fan of Sterling ropes for years (Evolution Velocity). Honestly, this rope handles just as well, or better, and has a substantially better price point. I particularly like the exterior finish. Even right out of the bag it’s not too hard, not too soft. Handles very well through the Gri Gri (1 and 2). Between projecting and beating them up at The Creek, we go through a couple of ropes per year. This is absolutely my new go to! Our friends at BD have killed it on this product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Maybe I got a bad one I use a lot of BD gear and wanted to give their ropes a shot, since it was time for a new gym rope. At first the rope seemed good. It felt nice and handled easily. Unfortunately, after a couple of sessions, it suffered from some extreme sheath slippage. By the time I lowered my climber to the floor, the core would be taut, and the sheath would be bunched up behind the atc. I was very sad and had to send it back. I'm hoping it was a fluke. But in the meantime, I will try to find something else. Sorry BD. I still love you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for I bought the 70m a little over two months ago while it was on sale. I have used it on about 10 trips to the Red River Gorge in good weather for lead climbing and haven't taken any big whips on it. I keep it clean and flaked in a rope bag. The sheath on the rope has begun slipping pretty bad and fibers are sticking out all over this thing. I've already had to cut a few feet off the rope because it was falling apart. Additionally, this rope stretches like a rubber band. Previously I've used sterling ropes and they last me about 1-2 seasons/2-3 year depending on the conditions I take them out into. The first rope I ever bought is still in much better shape than this one. I will not be buying black diamond ropes again due to the lack durability. Falling apart after 2 months of average use is ridiculous and speaks to their longevity. Pay a few extra $$ and get yourself a good sterling rope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long, with a durable sheath I needed to make sure I was well protected. After much time spent alone in the dark, wearing nothing and staring at my laptop, I decided that I needed plenty of length to be deeply satisfied. 70m should do the trick. My partner prefers slightly more girth than average, but we don't need to go magnum. 9.9mm was going to be sliding in and out of that grigri with all the right motions. We tend to get a little rough, but this equipment has a durable sheath to keep things safe. Moisture and wetness can penetrate deep inside this. To some, that may be a red flag, but I kinda like it. Just make sure you have a plan B. In the end, this rope helped me climax, and wasn't intimidated by the rock-hard environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great rope This is my first climbing rope and I like that it has a very specific black mid marker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This rope is easily the best in the price range. I've climbed on beal, and mammuts ropes of the same specs and this one is better.
