The Big Agnes Q Core SLX Sleeping Pad is a superlight sleeping pad for 3 season backpacking. Nice and light when you stuff it in your pack and incredibly cushy when it's time to lay down for sleep. Sleeping on the ground is a whole new ball game when it comes to the quilted top with offset I-Beams, providing support and cushion. When it comes to colder nights in camp, the insulation and heat reflective technology can't be seen, but they can certainly be felt and appreciated. Rated 5 out of 5 by from So lite! So Confortable! So everything! This pad is simply amazing! It is so east to use with the quick air dump valve when rolling this little beauty back into her home ready for the next time! I love this pad and take it everywhere! Sometimes I forget I even have it as it is so lite! No joke. It is a must for everyone seeking tight, support and honestly the best bad ever for any adventure! Only thing I do not like about this pad is that my girlfriend always tries to steal it away from me! Only con, so you better get two if you are camping with a lady friend or vice versa and actually want to sleep on it! Not carry it 15 miles deep and your lady friend "accidentally" passes out on it when you are stoking the fire...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very lightweight, compact and comfortable! Bought a Thermorest pad not realizing that as a side sleeper, this would be quite uncomfortable. Was recommended this sleeping pad and OMG, it is awesome, especially as a side sleeper! Lightweight and compact for my bike touring and great night's sleep. And I bought the Pumphouse which makes the combo unbeatable IMHO.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won out over other insulated pad I tried The devil is in the details. Better valve design, better pump bag design (BA Pumphouse Ultra purchased separately), FAR easier to deflate as you roll it up because of the freely flowing baffles, and more comfortable even when you partially deflate all of them for better comfort. I don't know why it's more comfortable, but the "quilted" baffles seem to be inherently more comfortable than tubular and v-shaped designs. V-shaped baffles are a bumpy mess especially near your head, and deflating them is darn near impossible while trying to roll it back up even after trying a few different approaches. No thanks! This Big Agnes deflated VERY easily and rolled up and fit right in the stuff sack with very little fuss. Something YouTube reviewers don't seem to tell you about! The first, very knowledgeable sales rep I talked to said his top pick was Big Agnes but we didn't have time to discuss details of why because the store was closing at the time. I should have just taken his word for it, but two other choices looked more promising to me on paper so I decided to try them all out. I assure you in real life, this one is much easier to work with. I got the 40" duo just for me, because I don't like mummy bags for summer use and 40" is just awesome for one "big" person. I'm 5'10", 250 lbs. It's very comfortable for me even for side sleeping. I'm motorcycle camping with it but space and weight are still at a high premium. It packs down to a size that was acceptable to me compared to the others. It's not the smallest but I was willing to deal with the extra size because the comfort and ease of use benefits were worth it to me. I'm going to be using it and riding long miles for days in a row so sleep is really important. Weight seemed about even with even the most compact (when folded) 40" pad I tried. I don't plan to sleep in weather under 32 degrees so the SLX is plenty warm for me being rated 15-35 F. By the way, most of the "crinkling" people complain about in ALL pad reviews is the pad squeaking against the rubberized floor of the tent. Stop that and all pads are much quieter. You're welcome. Ha-ha! Last comment, the rubberized coating makes the BA Pumphouse Ultra pump bag MUCH easier to use than other pump bags which slip all over the place. As a bonus it doubles as a dry bag for the mattress and other things! And in 2018, BA is coming out with a shower head attachment so you can use this dry bag as a camp shower. Nice. I think they should have included it with the mattress but oh well. Durability is only 4 stars because it is an ultralight mattress, so inherently not as durable as heavier options. For an ultralight, it seems perfectly fine. I'm not worried about damaging it, leaking or deflation with reasonable care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy and light I bought this for 3 nights in Big Basin. Slept very well (warm and cushioned) and didnt need to think about it when it was packed due to its small size and weight. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zzzzzz! Purchased this about a month ago. Having had several sleeping pads for bicycle touring...I found myself needing something lighter and smaller for the switch to bikepacking. It's been perfect so far! A little noisy..But super comfortable. Inflates to over two inches. Hips don't bottom out. Good for side sleeper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable I received this mattress a few weeks ago and had a chance to use it on a four day camping trip. It is very comfortable even for side sleeping. It is about 3 inches thick so it has plenty of padding. It even stood up to my 80 pound weimaraner stepping and laying on it. It packs down to a little larger than a 20 ounce cup. I gave it 4 stars because it's a little noisy when you move on it. Sometimes I flip around quite a bit. Over all it is really a decent mattress and Moosejaw had the best price with good shipping and free shipping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ultralight and Quiet When it comes to ultralight backpacking most of the time packers are only concerned about one thing weight. We make a lot of sacrifices in he name of getting down under a certain weight. For the last two years I have been using he NeoAir xLite from Thermarest. It doesn't get any lighter but still providing amble cushioning for sleep. But there was always two major issues for me with the pad. I would always find myself falling off the pad, and when sleeping it would make a considerable amount of noise as I shifted or moved. The Q-Core SLX solved big of these issues and only added 3 more ounces to my sleep system. He guard rails work great at keeping me on the pad, and when I move around it doesn't make any noise. I thought this was a good comfort tradeoff for 3-4 more ounces. The one drawback with this pad is of course blowing it up. Expect to exhaust about 2-3 minutes of blowing (50 breaths?) into this pad to fill it up. It routinely causes me to get lightheaded and I usually take a break. There is supposed to be a pump bag coming for this pad, but not until 2017, too far off in my mind. On he flipside, deflating this pad is fast and painless, one of the faster ones I've seen. Despite the issue above, the pad provides more pros than cons and fits well into my ultralight system.

BA claims this is an insulted pad but I'm not seeing any R-values reported . What exactly is the insulating system and how is the temperature determined?

Asked by: Brian
Thanks for the question! Big Agnes does not have an R-Value for this pad. Instead, they use a temperature rating system - which is 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, there is an internal layer of synthetic insulation. I hope this helps!

It's hard to see in the picture, is this pad waffle construction or vertical? They sell the one on Amazon under the same name QCore SLX in the same color but it has the waffle pattern on it. Is this an older model maybe?

Asked by: JoyC
Thanks for the question! The Q Core SLX Sleeping Pads we have in stock currently are from Spring 2017 and will have vertical construction. Sorry for the confusion!
