Product Description Item No.   10220021

The Arc'teryx Men's Thorium AR Jacket succeeds at giving you maximum warmth and versatility in a mid-layer while limiting weight. They have expertly mapped two different types of insulation across areas of need: Coreloft synthetic in moisture-prone zones (hem, collar, sleeves and underarms) and 750 fill down in the core and arms. With such mapping precision they should have called this the Rand McNally Jacket.... but Arc'teryx never listens to my jacket name suggestions. The DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finished exterior will shed some moisture so the Thorium AR can handle itself on its own, but really shines as an insulating layer under a shell.

FEATURES of the Arcteryx Men's Thorium AR Jacket

  • Down Composite Mapping strategically places both down and synthetic insulation inside jacket
  • Soft, durable face fabric withstands abrasion while DWR finish repels moisture and resists wind
  • Collar height provides warmth and helps block elements
  • Two zippered hand pockets, stuff sack included in pocket
  • Low profile, elasticized cuffs layer easily
  • Hem drawcord adjusts to seal out drafts
  • Packs down small into included stuff sack

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket - minor complaint Best down I own - have a Pat high loft but I always prefer the fit of Arc better - whether it's sweaters, jackets, etc. True warmth w/ no weight or bulk. ,,,,Minor irritation -when zipped up, there's a big dimple in the center of the jacket where the inside lining materials meet, causing a 5" puckering of the zipper and shell visible from the outside. Picture a 5" belly button just below the sternum. Just gives the appearance of poor tailoring/sewing. Not a deal breaker but I pay a premium for Arc because I expect a premium attention to detail. I hope it's just flaw with my jacket and not how every Thorium turns out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm light and packs up small This is my go to jacket from everything to a mid layer alpine set up, cool weather camping to urban nights. The Thorium will fend of all but the chilliest of nights and will look good doing it. Keep it dry and your golden. Its a form fitting jacket with lots of range of motion in the arms. You can reach out far and not suffer from short sleeve wrist exposure which seems to be how most Arc jackets are. That alone keeps me coming back to buy more of their product. My shoulders seem to be a mile wide and most companies don't fit due to this titan like feature. So if you, like me, want a cozy but super functional jacket that does a lot and fits well then count this in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-Around Down Jacket There's a reason I always return to Arcteryx for outdoor clothing - the quality of material and construction. I tried this down jacket for a 3-day backpacking trip to the Smokies and it was perfect. The athletic fit allows good movement, even with a backpack, and the provided stuff sack is convenient when you need to peel a layer. No cold/hot spots and the loft didn't shift around inside the fabric. This jacket does run a little tight; so putting fleece layers underneath makes for a really snug fit which may bother some folks. Exceptional quality with the workmanship (seams, zipper, cuffs, etc.) and the fit all around is true to size.,,,,Great Moosejaw customer service (as expected & received)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket, super light weight and a perfect fit. This is the best down jacket I've ever owned. Super light weight for the warmth it provides and the fit is great. I'm 6'1'' 180lbs and the large is perfect. I bought this to match up with my large Beta AR hardshell for the winter and they fit together perfectly. The material on this jacket seems a little thin, so I'll go easy on it when I'm not wearing my hardshell over it. The blue is a nice addition to my wardrobe considering I almost exclusively own black jackets. I highly recommend this jacket, especially at the sale price!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, warm, foxy! What more do want fool? If you're spending this much on a jacket, you want it to look good. This one does. You want it to be warm too, eh? Well this jacket is super warm even though you can barely feel it on your skin because it's so light. So now you're walking around looking hot and sexy and someone who has the "function plus fashion" thing nailed. You're life is almost complete. Now put some pants on and you're all set. Winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very light and practical with great balance of 750 goose down and synthetic insulation Thorium AR jacket is not 100% down but has synthetic Coreloft insulation strategically placed in the shoulder and collar areas. Such mix makes the jacket very attractively priced and very practical as the synthetic insulation resists moisture and dries much faster than down itself. When folded into it's sack it has a very small footprint and extremely light. A great light weight semi-down jacket to carry around any time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Arcteryx's first down offering is a success! Was debating between the Thorium AR and Cerium LT for a bit. Finally decided to go with the Thorium for the more durable 40D Colibri face fabric and slightly less trim fit for layering, since I plan to use this as an outer layer when a waterproof shell isn't needed. If Arcteryx stuff fits you well this will fit right in with the rest of your collection in the same size. Nice athletic fit but provides good movement and some room for layering. The face fabric is very low sheen, which I like. The inside fabric is shiny and smooth and feels nice on the skin. The minimal puffiness keeps you from looking like the Michelin man. The jacket is so light doesn't even feel like you have a jacket on. It's been below 32F in NY the last few days and I've used it with just a t-shirt under and it kept me nice and toasty walking around the city. I was surprised that it does a good job of keeping the wind out too. Love this jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great jacket I can't believe how light this jacket is yet it is SUPER warm. I wore it all through the record breaking 2014 Michigan winter and it held up great. fit is good and pretty true to sizing, or possibly a little small. one thing I noticed is that the material is a little more "shiny" than the photos seem to show. other than that, another fantastic jacket from arcteryx.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.
