Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My favourite pair of shorts Hands down my favourite pair of trail shorts. Love the front pockets, I can stuff 3 gels in each. I've done a few ultras in them and they are perfect. The material is soft and quick drying. Best thing is, they don't smell bad even after 12 hours on the trails The only thing i would change is that black tab on the back of the waist band. It doesnt seem to serve any purpose so please remove it. Any run longer than 3 hours and it starts to chaff really bad. I'm 1.75m, 67kg, 30in waist and the small fits ok, I would try an XS but that might just make the chaffing worse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic OK ... first, the standard items. I'm a size 29 waist and ordered a size small (2x). I don't feel any pressure around the waistband, nor do I pull the drawcords and, somehow, these shorts still stay up. I don't understand how this is possible and I don't much care because, with their light weight and split sides, these are by far and away the most comfortable shorts I have ever owned. The pockets are pretty handy as well. What's more, it appears that the opening for the large rear stretch pocket has been reduced a bit, which gives a little more reassurance that items like phones or wallets won't bounce out (not that they ever have). Finally... These shorts are bomb proof. I was coming down a slick trail last summer, wiped out and ended up sliding on my backside through underbrush and over rocks for about 20ft. My body took a bit of a beating, but the shorts were no worse for the wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely shorts but.... I liked everything about them but please change the liner/seam on the liner in the crotch area to be exact, I even did not run in them but just wear them for 10 min. inside of the house.... CHAFFING is the problem. Again,"bird" should be embroidered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best running shorts ever ridiculously comfortable. great fabric-- seems pretty durable. very thoughtfully designed-- dudes really took their time with this great design, from the high-up, rear mesh pocket that holds a phone perfectly w/ minimal bouncing to the grippy tie that only requires a simple twist to close. fit, length is perfect. amazing attention to detail. totally worth the big bucks. now all my other shorts suck.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Shorts, but......... I've had these shorts for about a year or so. The quality is second to none, attention to detail and so on spot on and what I have come to expect from Arcteryx.. I've run a number of ultras in these shorts and have come upon a couple of issues that are a little annoying. Chaffing seems to be the main issue, not so much in the groin area but on my lower back where the seem is covered with a band of fabric. To the touch the fabric feels soft but after every race I have a sore spot right where the band rubs on my back, annoying. Could be just an issue that I've had. Second issue. I'm a 32 waist the medium shorts fit great. The waist string is to short though to tie any kind of knot. Without tying the shorts they are a little loose and would fall off during a run but the string is just to short. Arcteryx, lengthen the sting. Lastly, again could be just me but the tack that seperates they mest pockets has ripped forming one pocket. Not a big deal, perhaps I am a bit rough with the shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best running shorts I own By far the best shorts that I bought. I like the fact that a lot of thought was put into the overall design of the shorts; 1. The side slits that really help cool you down. 2. Storage areas which is already good enough for me. I dont have to throw in a few bucks for me to get a separate belt for my hydration. 3. The moisure wicking material is great. Everything just falls magically into place giving you a very comfortable running experience. Do not let the price throw you off, its worth every single $ in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel soft and well made with a good fabics My concern is chafing. I have three Porsche design shorts which I thought the best. I'm a marathoner running several marathons per yr including Boston. I ran several times with sole us and felt good. I'm debating to wear this over porche design for LA marathon next month. soleus short feels really good but I reserve my final judgement after real test, a marathon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible waist band! Great shorts except for the waist band. I have a 32 waist so I got a size MD, the shorts themselves fit like a size MD, but the waist band on them is a XL sloppy mess that rides up my wist as I run. They would fit great if I had a beer belly and like to pull them up to my belly button. I'd buy them again if they put the right size waist band on them that didn't ride up my waist.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.
