Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good overall but one major flaw. I really wanted to like this piece of gear since it does have a lot of great features: The fabric is tough yet light, the pocket design is genius, and it looks great as well. The major issue I had with these shorts is the crotch design, specifically I found it to be too restricting and I found myself continuously adjusting the shorts (and Im not a big guy either @ 5'7'' 32 waist). I think Arcteryx designed it this way to maximize freedom of movement particularly for rock climbing but I think they could have made these shorts more comfortable with more material in the aforementioned area without sacrificing too much freedom of movement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking/climbing shorts These shorts have become my all time favorites. The cut is slightly different than my other shorts, with a much preferred longer inseam, and a different fitting rear. Be sure to try on your typical waist size and one smaller to get just the right fit. Although it took trying the 30s and 32s to find the right fit (my fit is just in-between), the 32s work out great with just enough extra space to keep things comfortably loose and easily held with a belt (without any excess waist material bunching up). The lightweight material, breathability, and quick drying surface makes these the ultimate summer shorts for hiking/climbing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome shorts! Initially I didn't like the sizing - waist was bigger than my normal Arc size, yet my butt felt tight. I tried a size up, and my shorts hit floor (even my butt couldn't keep them up). So I kept the my usual size, and as the day progress I found myself really loving them...a lot. I thought sizing was off, but they stretch, so my butt felt just right in them. On the technical side, the pocket locations were just perfect, and length were just right. Material is light and yet durable, and repels water. What else can I ask!? I was so happy I ended up ordering another pair, and long pants on order now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who wears short shorts? Not me I now have a few pairs of these shorts and they are definitely my favorite. I live some of the time in southern California where I go to school and mess around. My favorite thing about these shorts is the length of the inseam. They come down to about mid-knee or so on me. I'm not sure if you've ever looked into buying hiking shorts before, but the vast majority of hiking shorts are really short (multiple inches above the knee) and if you wore them for any other reason than hiking, it would look like you stepped out of 1985 when most guys wore short shorts. These shorts fit in in many scenarios. Another feature I like is the ability to shed water, which comes in handy more than you might think. Example: Youre washing your hands in the restroom and a little water splashes on your shorts. It can be embarrassing walking out of the restroom with water on the front of your shorts. Doesn't happen with these. Or maybe it's 100 degrees outside and you're riding your bike to school or the grocery store or walking across campus and probably sweating up a storm. So far, I haven't sweat through these shorts. That's a big plus for me. The size seems to be pretty accurate as well. All in all, these are a winner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I have been a huge fan since before the days of Salomon. Jackets that are at least 15 years and still going strong. I recently bought a the Rampart Shorts and probably adding more to the wardrobe... They are that comfortable and fit just about every occassion. The only drawback would be the pocket design. I have lost items due to the pocket design allows items to fall out. it may be because of the stitching or the depth of pocket? Other than that almost perfect

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shorts but could benefit from drain holes in pockets. I just bought a set of these and have been amazed by how light, comfortable and packable they are. However, I took them on the paddleboard the other day and decided to cool off by jumping in. I came out with literally pockets full of water and it took a surprising amount of time for them to drain. So they come highly recommended but could be improved ever so slightly with the addition of drain holes. Something to consider if you plan on swimming and/or fording streams.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these shorts! I have several pairs and wear them almost everyday to work! I love these shorts and wear them to work everyday! Have several pairs in different colors. Live in Florida and wether I am at the factory, in the citrus grove, or riding my airboat I will probably have a pair of these shorts on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best short i have ever worn I have tones of shorts but It is the best short i have ever worn. It provide very good range of motion even when it is soaked with sweat. It does not stick to my skin. I feel very comfortable and breathable when i wear it in 32-33 C degree with 85-100% humidity. It drys very fast. The six pockets are very functional. Love it and will purchase more.

HOW to MEASURE:

Chest / Bust - Measure around your chest / bust, holding the measuring tape under your armpit.

Waist - Measure around the natural waist, which is often the narrowest part of your waist.

Hip - Measure around your hips at the widest part.

Sleeve Length - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

Hand Width - Measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

FIT TYPE INFO and DETAILS:

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.
