DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, Love, Love it I bought this model jacket last year for my wife, and she loved it so much that I thought I'd give it a try myself. Initially, I was hesitant to purchase such a thin soft shell, but after reading many reviews about this jacket I decided to pull the trigger. I have many Arc'teryx LEAF Products, so I know that quality is a definite. After receiving the Gamay MX Hoody, I found that I've worn it everyday for the last two weeks. The only drawback to wearing this jacket are the sleeves. The sleeves are slim, and makes it difficult to put on thicker items under it. Other than that, this jacket is an excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from go-to shell layer I usually grab this when the weather is looking a little chilly (below 20s; I wear it over a thermal layer) or when it looks like it's going to rain or snow out. Paired with a great base and thermal layer, the versatility of this jacket amazing. I feel comfortable from about 0 degrees F to the 50s (once again, with a good base and thermal layer). I haven't been in anything below 0, so I can't say anything about that; I'd suspect that you'd begin to feel quite chilly if you're just sitting or standing around, but it'd still be good if you're doing something active.,,,,The jacket seems durable and has performed quite well thus far. If there seem to be any major flaws in construction down the road, I'll come back to update this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-around protection This jacket is perfect for low and high activity days that are slightly above-freezing temps. You can definitely wear it when its colder, just with another layer underneath. Waterproofing is amazing, and lots of pockets for storage. The fit is slightly off for me (I'm 6 ft tall and 170 lbs, long torso and long arms) - its maybe an inch too short around the waist and the upper arm area is a bit baggy, but still sits nicely whether its zipped up or not. The hood is better than any other jacket I've owned, with the tightening technology being on-point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this jacket. Little snug through the shoulders and the fleecy interior makes it a bit of a struggle to layer sometimes... can't find anything else to complain about. Beautifully made, lot's of pockets, fast becoming my favorite softshell. I would call this moderately wind-resistant as it is not as windproof as Windstopper--about perfect for me as I tend to run hot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around jacket! I have had this jacket for a year now and i am very happy with it. It is what i always grab when i don't know what the weather is going to do. It sheds light rain and mist great, does great in the snow, holds your body heat in when your are working out and stretches nicely for climbing or biking. The jacket blocks wind until it gusts above around 30mph so its not super windproof but still a lot better than a fleece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the perfect jacket for fall/pre-winter season w/ little drizzle in the city This soft shell jacket is the perfect jacket for fall and pre-winter season in California. I really like Arcteryx soft shell jackets because they are so comfortable to wear and they last very long. Since the temperature is quite low in the early morning and late evening in Cali, so I have this jacket with me when chili and it protects me from cold. The design is also suitable for casual wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice jacket for activities in decent weather Pros: 1. Super comfortable for various activities 2. Looks good in town 3. The pockets are really convenient Cons: 1. Not as water resistant as you might hope, you will get soaked up pretty quickly in a moderate rain 2. Not great for strong wind The cons are by its design and i wasn't really complaining. Overall, it's a good jacket for decent weather and for commuting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable quality I have had this jacket for a little over a year and I have loved it. The storm hood is fantastic and very well designed. It has performed well in every circumstance that I have put it in. This jacket has treated me very well and will for many years to come. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a high quality soft shell jacket.

ARC'TERYX FIT GUIDE
NEXT to SKIN FIT: These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Used for base layers which integrate well with Arc'teryx Expedition, Trim, Athletic and Relaxed Fit styles.

TRIM FIT: These trim fitting garments share motion-friendly traits with an Arc'teryx Regular fit style, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. The Arc'teryx trim fit is sized for a base layer and a trim synthetic or down filled mid-layer.

REGULAR FIT: This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. The complex patterns used utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion and eliminate excess bulk. Trimmer than the Relaxed fit with room for a base layer, a light fleece mid-layer and a synthetic or down filled mid-layer.

RELAXED FIT: Relaxed fit garments rely on both articulation and higher volume patterns to provide comfort and mobility. This is a looser fit featuring room for a base layer plus a thick cold weather mid-layer.

EXPEDITION FIT: Expedition fit is suitable for winter / extreme conditions. The larger cut accommodates multiple layers without binding or restricting movement. Their maximum fit with room for a base layer plus multiple, thick cold weather mid-layers.
