The Arc'Teryx Men's Fission SL Jacket is a waterproof jacket packed with lightweight insulation for all-around adventures into the cold outdoors. The N40p-X GORE-TEX® 2L provides the waterproof/breathable protection, while ThermaTek™, a 30D, 100% nylon face fabric that has been laminated to a continuous fibre fill insulation provides warmth. The insulation as well as the outer fabric has been coated in a durable water repellent finish, helping to repel water from the surface. The SL stands for super light, for fast moving in the mountains, regardless of whether you're hiking, snowshoeing or skiing. The athletic fit allows for additional layers underneath and the StormHood™ is not only insulated for more warmth, but is helmet-compatible so you can stay safe. The underarms have pit zips to dump excess heat when you're building up a sweat and the adjustable hem closes out drafts so they won't reach the small of your back. The dual hand pockets and two internal mesh pockets give plenty of space for extra glove liners, goggles, and any extras you need for the day.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Winter Jacket Ever. I love this jacket. I've owned it for a little over 4 years now, and although it's much too warm for most winter weather in Vancouver, anytime I head North for Christmas (or into the mountains for overnight ski tours), this jacket comes with me. My wife, who is perpetually cold, also has one, and it's the only thing that's ever managed to keep her warm when the temperatures have dropped to -50C over our winter holidays. Oh yeah, and it's light, it's waterproof, it's synthetic (light and water doesn't affect it's ability to insulate), and the pit zips are the perfect touch for regulating temperatures. Seriously. Best ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Hot !!!!!!! Extremely Hot !!!!!!! This jacket is the solution to the real problems of extreme cold!! I took her to the Southern Continental Ice in Patagonia. During the day we had a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and at night reached 25 degrees below zero! It was a jacket during the 29 days of the expediccion I take it out or to sleep inside the sleeping bag, it was very cold! At the same time to have Gore-Tex is waterproof and is doing very well the days of rain and snow as it does not cake as feather jackets! It is expensive!! BUT THE BEST IN THE WORLD SYNTHETIC JACKET! BRAND IS THE BEST ARC'TERYX

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the most amazing jacket I own! I was looking for a good hard shell weatherproof jacket for summit days, and I should mention that I tend to be warm when most people are uncomfortably cold. We were recently in the Caucases with bitter conditions near the summit of Elbrus (-35C WC, constantly beaten by 60 mph gusts). Not wanting to overheat (which I tend to do) I wore only a baselayer of Patagonia expedition weight thermals and this jacket. I had other layers in my pack in case I needed them, I didn't. My core was warm the entire time and no overheating or sweating despite very hard exertions. I could not possibly recommend this jacket more highly. The zippers are foolproof and solid. The hood is very warm. Just an all around marvel of textile engineering. Well done Arc'teryx!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Finally bought this jacket after been lurking for almost 2 years. I was very impressed how light it was when I received it (bought online) I couldn't believe such a light jacket could be so warm. Living in Denmark and our winters are freezing and mostly wet. This jacket is just perfect for the Scandinavian winter weather. The fit is perfect like other Arctetyx jacket I own. I am 5.11 and weighs 140 pounds so I am quit slim and size S is perfect for me. I like the Athletic fit which doesn't make you look like the "Michelin Man" like most down jacket does.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst lining!! I’d like to meet the person that okay’d this lining. They obviously never wore this jacket in the cold. The lining is so unbelievably loud I couldn’t leave my hood up. Snowshoeing I couldn’t hear the people I was out with while we were walking. Yes it gave me all the performance I have come to expect from Arc’teryx products. I only wear Arc’teryx in the back country, from my underwear out! but this jacket lining let me down. Just to grab it and run out to the store it was uncomfortable and crazy loud. A softer lining like in the Atom Hoody ( my personal favourite and greatest gift you can give anyone!) would have been much preferred. Sadly I am sending it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An alpinist essential: the Fission SL. The best belay jacket ever. I purchased a Fission SL in 2012 to replace my worn out Dually. The Dually had been an amazing jacket and performed flawlessly year after year ice climbing in the US and Canada as well as climbing expeditions to Alaska. I wanted another Dually but Arc'teryx at the time wasn't making one. I hesitantly went with the Fission SL as it at least had Thermatek insulation like my old Dually. I could go on and on here but the bottom line is I didn't think it was possible to improve on the Dually but the Fission SL proved me wrong. The lightest, warmest, most weatherproof belay jacket I have ever owned. Season after season to Alaska, Canada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and everywhere in between and it continues to perform like it is the first day. One of the best items I have ever owned from Arcteryx. Gold Star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dry, Warm and very light I've only had this jacket for a couple of weeks (2-day free delivery - thank you!), so while it may seem a bit early for a review, I've worn it through 3 days of moderate rain, the recent ice storm here in TO, (low activity )standing around at the hockey rink at 7AM, and walking in -19C weather (w/ windchill) - it's been through a decent range of temps & weather for me. It lives up to its reputation and the other reviewers' thoughts. While wearing a synthetic, non-insulated running shirt underneath in -19C weather, I was comfortable within 2min of light walking. Above 5C, I felt a bit warm so pit zip mgmt was important. The "athletic cut" was a bit of a question mark for me when ordering (the SL is not carried in Sporting Life or Sail here in TO - the SV is easy to find and try). I actually found the SL jacket to still be "roomy" and easy to layer underneath. The difference in fit I've noticed in this jacket compared to any other is that the armpit holes are higher - much like a proper suit. Hope that bit of information helps. I'm 5'8, 160lbs and of average build - ordered a small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing warmth for weight Got tired of wearing layers of a fleece and shell skiing for years. Heard a lot about Acr'Terx and gave this a try. Not disappointed. Fantastic for skiing, warm on the way up, pit zips nice for when the temp goes up. Also excellent for bicycle commutes on really cold days. As someone else noted, it would not have killed them to put an inside or outside stash pocket for your phone. I find their sizing on the small size, I am 5`10` 170lbs but prefer large. THis is my second season with the jacket.

NEXT to SKIN FIT: These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Used for base layers which integrate well with Arc'teryx Expedition, Trim, Athletic and Relaxed Fit styles.

TRIM FIT: These trim fitting garments share motion-friendly traits with an Arc'teryx Regular fit style, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. The Arc'teryx trim fit is sized for a base layer and a trim synthetic or down filled mid-layer.

REGULAR FIT: This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. The complex patterns used utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion and eliminate excess bulk. Trimmer than the Relaxed fit with room for a base layer, a light fleece mid-layer and a synthetic or down filled mid-layer.

RELAXED FIT: Relaxed fit garments rely on both articulation and higher volume patterns to provide comfort and mobility. This is a looser fit featuring room for a base layer plus a thick cold weather mid-layer.

EXPEDITION FIT: Expedition fit is suitable for winter / extreme conditions. The larger cut accommodates multiple layers without binding or restricting movement. Their maximum fit with room for a base layer plus multiple, thick cold weather mid-layers.
