Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!! Best mid layer I have ever owned. The fit is spot on (6' 195 and the large fits great). I wore this in 25 degree temps with just a long sleeve t-shirt underneath and was completely fine. It's a slim fit and the arms tapper to an elastic cuff which takes some getting used to but now I wish all of my jackets had this quality. There is enough room for a light shirt and waffle underneath this jacket as well. Winder resistance is decent, but air does come through the light side panels of the jacket pretty easily. So if is windy you'll definitely want to have some sort of hardshell. Everyone should own one (or the hoody version)!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Jacket of Kings This jacket is the bee's knee's. If God was in the market for a causal athletic jacket, this is what He would wear. Being 6'1 & 155lbs, this jacket fits me perfectly, a slim fit thats snug against the body and rests right at my hips. Took it out in 30 degree weather with high winds, and I felt like I was in the Tropics ( of Capricorn, not Cancer). A little more expensive than TNF, but nearly twice the quality, and that's coming from a fan of TNF. So do yourself, your friends, and your family a favor and go out and pick one up. When you do, tell them 8th President Martin Van Buren sent you. They'll be impressed with your encyclopedic knowledge of history...probably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Synthetic Insulation Out There I have owned this jacket for over a year and have gotten more use out of it than I ever thought I would. It is super light weight, feels like you aren't even wearing it, and it packs down really small. This jacket goes with me on every backpacking trip in case the temps drop. It is super warm, you can wear it down to about 20 degrees, and it sheds water pretty well. I also like that it doesn't have the baffled construction so you can wear it around town without getting too many looks. Overall this lives up to traditional Arcteryx standards, they just get all the little things right and this is no exception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing jacket ! Got my Atom today and wow! Was wondering mostly about sizing -- at 5'10" / 165 lbs, I was planning to buy the small to go under my size small Beta AR. So after an online question/answer session with 'Snuggy' at, I ordered the medium and am glad I did -- fits perfectly under my size small Beta AR. Did I mention how toasty and light this thing is? This coat packs a big punch of warm for being so svelte. You will not regret getting this jacket! The perfect mid-layer or spring/fall jacket.,,,,I live in Michigan and wanted a jacket for three seasons ... this is the one. Look no further!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, but super warm jacket that can serve as as liner or stand alone as its own Jacket. Wore this jacket in 40 degree temperatures with nothing but a t shirt underneath and was totally fine. Its creates a warmth that just simply does the job even in that cold/wet/nasty weather. Rain beads and rolls right off. Fit is snug, but comfortable in wrists and waist to retain warmth. I work outside on my feet where the temperature can be in the high 80's during the day and drop to 20 degrees when the wind changes direction. This is a great piece of gear to have on hand. This jacket is easily foldable into the small pouch of a camelbak or cargo pocket. It can be pulled out of nowhere to save you butt from the elements. Theres a reason Navy Seals use arc'teryx clothing. True story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do it, it's worth it!! This is my first high-end piece of cold-weather layering (have always rolled with Columbia/North Face/Under Armor at the local Scheels). I was pretty hesitant about dropping $200 on just a mid-layer when I have usually spent $150-175 on a tri-climate system. As soon as I put it on, what a difference!! This jacket is more comfortable than any hoodie or sweater out there along with the capability to be a stand alone jacket in 20-30 degree weather. I've rolled it into a sleeve for a couple friends and they can't believe what just happened. Saving up for a hard shell from Arc'teryx now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Midlayer! Picked up this jacket for layering and wearing solo in moderate temps. Has far exceeded my expectations! Very light and very warm! One thing that I didn't catch in the product reviews and description (probably my oversight) is that there are breathable panels that start under the pits and extend down the sides. They are not insulated like the rest of the jacket. This helps for breathability when active, but found out firsthand in very cold, heavy wind, you can feel a slight draft. With that said, obviously not the intended purpose to wear the jacket solo on a windy winter day. Should have had a shell or something over top. Absolutely no regrets with the purchase and absolutely love the jacket! Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Insulated Layer I bought this for my husband two years ago when he told me his inner layer for his Columbia jacket was worn out. He really like how snugged it fit him and he was even able to wear this layer in addition to his 3-in-1 Columbia jacket. He doesn't like the bulky look and said this layer was very light and kept him warm. I do find this brand Arcteryx to be a bit pricey but it does live up to all the hype (it is actually on sale now, I paid $250 for it). We live in the East Coast so it gets very cold here and my husband likes that he can layer up without all the weight.

Chest / Bust - Measure around your chest / bust, holding the measuring tape under your armpit.

Waist - Measure around the natural waist, which is often the narrowest part of your waist.

Hip - Measure around your hips at the widest part.

Sleeve Length - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

Hand Width - Measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.
