The Gossamera fabric is 100% nylon ripstop, which is lightweight and durable for protecting the Coreloft insulation packed inside. Coreloft is a synthetic insulation, which is not only lightweight, but compresses nicely for packing away on nice days and even keeps you warm when wet. The athletic fit provides a slim, clean profile and won't get in the way of your gear. Tuck away personal items into the zippered hand pockets and internal chest pocket. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great jacket but need more room for arms Just bought this jacket to wear as a mid-layer and outer layer. Loved the jacket except for one thing, the armpit holes. Plenty of room to raise your arms above your head, but if just wearing the jacket normally, material folds over underneath the arms and creates a tight feeling that is uncomfortable. Also, slightly tight across the chest extending from the armholes. If you try to wear a light Arcteryx half-zip pullover underneath the jacket, it is just too tight. While my other Arcteryx pieces fit, with great disappointment, this one had to go back, which is why I gave it 3 stars. At 5'11" and 175 lbs with a 41" chest, the XL is too large and the Large is too small. Arcteryx, please consider altering this jacket for guys that like to work out at the gym and give us some more room in the arm pits and chest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for. This jacket is precisely what I wanted - lightweight yet quite warm, holds off the wind, and fits perfectly. Not overly slim, but not baggy at all either. The only thing I can't speak to is its durability as I've only had it for a week, but so far so good. The outer material doesn't seem terribly robust to look at, but something tells me it's a lot stronger than it looks. All in all, a very well made jacket that should delay my having to break out my parka until it gets properly cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insulation, despite athletic fit Sensibly warmer than my old climbing fellow hoody LT, the AR makes me feel like I can leave my down jacket at home in many situations, especially when the playground is wet. I love the athletic fit of the AR, and the lightness as well. Actually I was little afraid of granite flakes but the fabric is less delicate than it seems; though not super cheap, I'm happy with the quality of this jacket. It would be nice to have a minimalist bag to stuff it inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another home run! I bought my first Arc'teryx jacket (Atom LT) this past fall and instantly feel in love with it. it is a great mid weight jacket and feels and performs great. I walk a lot here (Alaska) and sometimes it does get cold in January so i wanted a bit warmer jacket. The Atom AR fits the bill. Just as comfortable and functional as the Atom LT but with some extra insulation. I am now convinced that Arc'teryx makes the best outdoor clothing in the world. I could not be happier with this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice jacket I like the jacket. Kinda snug fit, but sure blocks cold air. I wish the arms had a little more room. I'm 5'11 290 lbs. after a workout the arms may be snug but freedom of motion is still there. If you put a sweat shirt or thick shirt gets a bit snug. I'll see how it works once I put my shell over it. Would recommend the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Mid-Layer EVA! You know what's annoying when skiing in the wet conditions of the NW? The hood of your mid-layer flopping out the top of your jacket. It soaks up all the moisture and redistributes down your neck into your base layer for an unnecessary creature discomfort. Come on Jerry, hoods are for outer layers. I used the atom lt hoodie for a few seasons, and own the old atom sv hoodie, however, the Arcteryx Men's Atom AR is the perfect co-lab of the two. Under a shell, it dominates the other atoms. Obviously not as stylish for wearing by itself as the hoodies are, just ask Kim, but for under your shell this is the supreme option. When you get cold, haha just kidding, you won't get cold even if you get wet. When you get hot, unzip the front for a quick coolie and no worries, eh mate. Get it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Just a bit longer and warmer which is what I was looking for. Even sitting on the chair lift in -20 and blowing winds I was perfectly comfortable.
