The Arc'teryx Men's Acrux FL Approach Shoe is a technical shoe for navigating your way from the trail head to the crag or just exploring advanced trails for a day. Arc'teryx has stepped into the shoe-world this year with a vengeance and in doing so, brings you the Acrux FL, a super durable performance shoe with breathable liner. The upper is seamless, made from a combination of PU coated yarns, TPU protection films, with a 3D moulded heel and toe cap. While the stretch nylon monomesh liner is non-removable, it is still air permeable, so your foot can breath and the liner itself can dry quickly. The Arc'Approach with Megagrip compound outsole has been created special with Vibram®, for stellar grip along technical terrain, a little climbing action, and easy braking. I think Arc'teryx may have just opened up a whole new sort of awesome in your adventures.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Completely satisfied with this product I was a bit doubtful at the beginning about investing in a product that will be the initial attempt at shoes by Arc'teryx, however those worries were quickly put to rest with my first uses. The engineering behind the shoe is obvious, to take the constraints and challenges around footwear and to resolve them with fundamental science seems obvious, but seemingly hasn't been done until now. I used these for a mix of cave/rock scrambling and loose dirt hiking. The grip and stability was better than any other shoe I've tried. The braking was excellent and the comfort was superb, the lining truly does give a custom fit. Kenzo

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great shoe, comfortable...two drawbacks I just bought these shoes and broke them in a bit and then went for an 11 mile hike in the Big Basin Redwood State Park. Overall I love the shoes - they are comfortable (see below) and seem rugged. The served me well on the 4 hour hike.,,,,Two potential drawbacks...,,1. I loved the shoes on flats and uphill. On the downhills though, my feet seemed to slide forward in the shoe (yes, I have the sizing right). I think it's the design on the liner inside the shoe.,,,,2. When I first started on the hike, after about 10 mins, the top of my feet were hurting. I thought it was just break in needed. But then I realized the issue is that without a tongue, the laces can press into your foot. So you can't tie the shoes as tightly as you otherwise might (at least on the lower part of the laces). Once I may an adjustment, then it was fine.,,,,Overall - I really like these shoes.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! Waited a long time for the Bird to manke shoes and boy was it worth the wait. Superbly comfortable they actually seem to propel you along. The inner "sock" was a concern at first as it hit right on my ankle bone but within 30 minutes I didn't notice it anymore. I sized down from an 11 to a 10.5 and the fit is terrific. A majestic shoe and once more Arc'teryx is sure to shake up the industry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fit for non-fat feet I was excited to see this first version shoe from Arcteryx as I have several other pieces of clothing from them and I really like their 'athletic' fit. I have tried several brands of trail/hiking shoes looking for a good fit, but I find my medium/narrow foot ends up swimming in so many other shoes. Many other company's toe-boxes are just too wide and I can never get a snug fit. When I saw this model, the first thing that jumped out at me was that the laces go nearly all the way to the toe of the shoe. Even if you don't have narrow feet you should appreciate this feature as it allows you to customize your fit. This shoe has exceeded my expectations with zero break-in time. Instantly comfortable out of the box. The liner feels like a custom fitted mold to my foot and that all but eliminates hot spots. It is very breathable (I wore them to the beach) and the high toe cap is perfect for protecting you on rock scrambles. One hesitation that I had was the tongue free design, but upon receiving the shoe I realized that there is a lightweight mess tongue that you don't notice in the pictures (it's the same color as the bootie and it goes from the front of the shoe up to the fifth eyelet). It keeps out any small items that may try to wedge in between the bootie and the shoe. Overall, this is the best outdoor shoe I've had in years. FYI - In regards to sizing, use the Arcteryx measurement guide and actually follow their steps to measure your foot. I normally wear a 10 1/2 in a Cole Haan dress shoe and an 11 in Nike running shoes and the 10 1/2 Arcteryx size is absolutely perfect for me. I'm glad I used their measurement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable Impressive and progressive design. I had to size down 0.5 sizes. I'm normally a 10 but had to get a 9.5 to avoid heal slipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pay attention to sizing! I haven't put these through any torture tests yet but I can tell they are of the high quality that you would expect from arcteryx. The soles are beefy and the heel is a little taller than I expected. So as far as sizing goes, I tried to follow the Arcteryx sizing guide and according to that I should have got a 9.5 U.S.. I was hesitant because I wear a 10.5 in almost every other shoe I own. I ended up getting the size 10 and it is tight but comfortable. In my experience, the shoes run pretty true to size. I will likely get the goretex boot as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Normally Arcteryx is so functional.... Arcteryx needs more 'developing' on this shoe. The idea of a shoe--not featuring a tongue & instead using a footie liner is fine, yet part of my issue is that Arcteryx still recommends the use of a thin sock. The neoprene liner and a sock is 'confusing'. Lol I ended up returning these most b/c my ankle bone would rub too often on the shoe. Overall really wished to like these, the quality of materials seem to be stellar the outer shoe construction bonding is impressive. The Vibram sole is similar in design found on brand Salewa, but corrects to improves sole so it isn't as slippery on wet surfaces. Width was bit narrow but not uncomfortable even on a my wider foot. Size I thought was true. Laces seemed fine to me, and like the secure heel lace option, & I would use it--there was a bit of heel movement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good approach shoe but uncomfortable if you have big ankles First let me say this is an excellent approach shoe if it fits you well. It is exceptionally comfortable for how well it climbs. It climbs almost as well as my Gandas, and for all practical purposes is more than enough for any outing in my opinion. For example, I had no problems doing Jtree v0s in these shoes. For me though, the ankle cutouts are not deep enough which results in the edges of the shoes digging into my ankles. So for the time being, I think I will have to find a different approach shoe...

2. Place a piece of paper underneath your foot and draw a line from directly in front of your big toe across to the side wall.

3. Then use your pen and ruler to draw a straight line intersecting the line that you just drew in front of your big toe, back towards the rear wall.

4. Use the above information to help you find your foot measurements, then select the relevant size from the tables below.

Arc'teryx Warranty and Repair

Arc'teryx guarantees the quality and performance of all of their products. Items with defects in materials or workmanship will be replaced or repaired at the discretion of Arc'teryx for the practical lifetime of the product. Items that are damaged through wear and tear, misuse, or neglect may be repaired at a small charge.

How do I send back an item for Warranty, or get an item repaired by Arc'teryx?
For Customers in North America and Europe, Arc'teryx recommends that the product be returned to the store or site where it was originally purchased.

If this is not possible, fill out their online warranty form which can be found HERE. They will email you with full instructions on how to send your product to their Warranty and Repair Center. Do not send your item to them without first obtaining an RA number from Arc'teryx.

Arc'teryx is not responsible for items that are lost or damaged during shipping and cannot replace parcels that are lost during return shipment if proof of tracking is not available. Please use a guaranteed delivery service that provides tracking information, insurance, and proof of delivery when sending an item back to Arc'teryx.

For customs purposes, Arc'teryx requires you to provide them with a PHYSICAL address, however, your warranty/repair item can still be shipped to a PO Box.

How do I contact them with questions?
Complete their Warranty or Repair Request Form. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach their Customer Service department at 1-866-458-2473.

What is and isn't covered under the Warranty Policy?
Defects in materials or workmanship are covered for the practical lifetime of the product. Material refers to zippers, buckles and fabrics. Workmanship refers to seams, seam tape and construction. Damage due to wear and tears such as rips, tears, abrasion or UV degradation, misuse or neglect is not covered under Arc'teryx's warranty policy but may be repairable for a fee.

What is covered under the Warranty Policy on Arc'teryx footwear?
Defects in material and workmanship will be covered by Arc'teryx for the practical lifetime of the product. The practical lifetime for footwear can vary drastically depending on the frequency and type of usage. Things such as the wearing of the outsole, frayed laces, nicks and tears can indicate that a shoe has surpassed its practical lifetime. These are examples of wear and tear or damage which are not covered by Arc'teryx. If you believe there is a defect in material or workmanship present on your product, please see follow the instructions on how to send it to Arc'teryx for assessment.

What does 'practical Lifetime of the product' mean?
Although Arc'teryx builds their products to last over extended periods of time, nothing lasts indefinitely. Materials will deteriorate and fade over time and moving parts will wear out. Arc'teryx will cover your product under their warranty policy until such a time that they have deemed the product to be worn out beyond reasonable repair. If the product is showing the signs of its age-for instance, the material has become thin or faded, there are rips and tears, the zippers no longer catch, the cuffs are fraying, or the soles are worn-they will take this into consideration when assessing your product for a warranty request. All gear will suffer from differing degrees of wear-and-tear, depending upon the user. Equipment used by an outdoor guide for 150 days a year will by comparison, degrade faster than gear used by a weekend skier. By taking care of your equipment you will ensure a longer lifetime for your gear. Arc'teryx recommends that you visit their Product Care page for more information on how to wash and care for your equipment.

Will Arc'teryx repair or replace my product?
If your Arc'teryx product fails due to a manufacturing defect, where possible, Arc'teryx will repair the item at no charge to you. They have repair centers in both Europe and North America that employ the same custom machinery and techniques that they use to create the original products. If the product is not repairable, or the cost of the repairs exceeds the value of the product, Arc'teryx may, at their discretion, choose to replace the product instead.

What happens if I rip or tear my jacket or pants?
Skis, snowboards, crampons, axes and other sharp equipment will damage clothing and gloves if they come into direct contact with them. Rips, tears, burns and punctures can occur during normal use and while carrying your equipment, and are not covered under the terms of the warranty. To assist you in keeping your product in optimal working condition, Arc'teryx offers a variety of repairs for a reasonable charge. Contact them and they will be happy to discuss your options.

What if I want to have my garment altered or tailored?
Arc'teryx does not offer custom alterations or modifications to their packs or garments at this time. For products made from GORE-TEX® fabrics they suggest using a GORE-TEX® authorized repair facility for alterations. There is a list of GORE-TEX® authorized repair shops in your area on the GORE-TEX® website.

Do alterations void my warranty?
Arc'teryx understands that individuals may, on occasion, wish to tailor their Arc'teryx products to suit their needs. If something should fail which is unrelated to any alterations, Arc'teryx will stand behind their products, provided that the Arc'teryx product is being used as intended. For a list of alteration facilities in your area, please visit the GORE-TEX® website.

How long will it take if I send my product in for warranty assessment and/or repair?
The typical turn-around time is 15 to 20 business days from the time they receive your product to the time they ship it back to you. Keep in mind that winter is the busiest season for warranty and repair service. Arc'teryx will provide you with updates and more accurate estimates throughout the process.

How do I prepare my item for return to Arc'teryx?
In order to comply with health and safety regulations, as well as for the protection of their staff, Arc'teryx kindly asks that all products be cleaned before being sent to them. Products that arrive unwashed may be subject to a cleaning fee before assessments can be made. To find out how to properly clean your garment, please visit the Arc'teryx Product Care page.

How are shipping costs handled?
Customers are responsible for shipping items to Arc'teryx, and Arc'teryx will cover the return shipping costs. Please ensure that you ship the product using a carrier that can provide you with tracking information and proof of delivery. Customers are responsible for their product until Arc'teryx has signed for its delivery.

What do repairs cost?
Repairs covered under the terms and conditions of the Arc'teryx warranty policy are performed at their expense. Costs for non-warranty repairs will vary depending upon the situation. Arc'teryx will provide you with as many repair options as possible based upon the amount of work and materials required and the expected end result. After your product has been received and assessed, Arc'teryx will be able to contact you with repair options and costs. Repairs requiring payment will never be performed without your authorization.

What is the Voltair Avalanche Airbag Limited Warranty?
The Voltair Airbag will be covered under warranty for manufacturing and material defects for the duration of three years after purchase or 50 inflations, whichever comes first.
