NO. 1: CANINE APTITUDE TEST
Sierra Designs designed this 3-season tent with an integrated fly and single pole system to make for a simple and dry set up. Our Canine Aptitude Test allowed us to measure exactly how fast and easy this tent could be constructed by a simple-minded organism. It only took our subject a few moments to orient the swivel-hubbed pole frame to the tent and secure the tent clips to the poles. We've concluded that if this small dog's tiny brain could figure this out, then you certainly can.
NO. 2: BABY LIFT TEST
Some studies have shown that the cutest babies are the weakest, since they don't have to fight for love and affection. We used this theory to design our Baby Lift Test. Obviously our test subject was far too cute to lift the 10lbs bowling ball, but through complex mathematical equations, we hypothesized she should be able to lift the 3lbs 7oz tent. Of course, we were right. We concluded the Lightning 2 UL's asymmetrical design, and hybrid double/single wall construction, effectively reduces weight without compromising space and ventilation. We would not, however, recommend that you allow your small and adorable children to carry this tent on their frail backs for extended periods of time.
NO. 3: SPAGHETTI TEST
Upon observation of the Lightning 2 UL's side gear closets, we hypothesized that the extra space would be perfect for messy activities or muddy shoes and packs. We conducted the Spaghetti Time Test, since no one likes to eat spaghetti inside their tent. The ample head room in the tent allowed our scientist to fit comfortably inside with our test subject for better observation and note taking. We found that being able to access a gear vestibule from the side of the tent, allowed for ample Spaghetti Time, without inhibiting the flow of traffic in and out of the tent.
At the end of the day, if you're looking for a spaghetti friendly tent, that you could also take backpacking, we're officially recommending a Sierra Design's Lightning Tent.
