My favorite dessert is Tiramisu if anyone asks, particularly if the cocoa dust on the top is a cool picture. I spent a majority of my formative years in the sandy scrublands of Florida, where I was raised by armadillos after getting lost during a family trip to Disney. After many years, I finally found my way home back to the Great Lake State. Needless to say, my land navigation is on point and I love being outside for weeks at a time. If you have any thoughts on hot peppers, crickets in Jell-O, or anything really come on in and lets chat over a freeze dried ice cream sandwich.
I love to paddle, pedal, and scramble across this lovely planet of ours. Bring your dog in or chinchilla, it's all good but no RACOONS. That's all I got, I would rather just see you in person so, come on in and Get the Gear then Aye Oh River out!
Dan Coppa Moosejaw Ski + Snowboard Tech
I'm a Michigan born ski bum. I grew up enjoying everything Michigan has to offer from hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes to watching the Wings win. When I was just a young buck I clicked into my first pair of skis and the winters were never the same from then on out. Since that day I have been chasing that simple joy of carving on snow. This love of everything skiing and snowboarding has allowed me to enjoy some of the most beautiful places in the world ever since. I was lucky enough to attend college in Steamboat Springs, Colorado followed by the enjoying many years in Vail, Colorado. My passion for skiing and snowboarding even allowed me many months of living and working in Australia. After too many years away from the Great Lakes State I'm back and ready to share my passion for skiing and boarding with anyone crazy enough to brave the midwest winters with me.Email Me
Get to know Moosejaw, Rochester
Our Moosejaw shop in The Village of Rochester Hills is located on the northeast corner of Walton and Adams. Coincidentally, I used to have two gerbils named Walton and Adam. Not really. Their names were actually Walter and Beatrice. But I digress, I feel like we've gotten off on the wrong foot here. I don't normally go around trying to trick people. So please believe me when I say that our Rochester shop has the friendliest, most sincere, and most knowledgeable staff around and they will not pull any kind of shenanigans when offering you advice on gear/apparel that you require to suit all of your outdoor needs.
The goods are coming. Stay tuned.
NOTHING IS HAPPENING

Moosejaw, Rochester Products
Rochester is the jacket capital of Michigan. That's not true. However, we do carry a lot of different jackets. We carry a lot of different brands as well as styles. For walking around downtown Rochester, we recommend a fleece by Patagonia or The North Face Although, a water-proof jacket may be a good idea if that suede vest you're wearing is prone to rain damage. If you decide to go frolic in Rochester Park, you may need a heavier down coat by Marmot, Arc'teryx or Mountain Hardwear. Wrapping a kitten around your neck will also keep you warm, but we don't recommend that because we sell jackets.
Apples are really big here in Rochester. They dedicate a whole weekend to them during Arts and Apples Fest every summer. I'm not joking. I heard something about how one a day will keep the doctor away, but that seems far-fetched. My foot doctor told me that keeping shoes on my feet is a more logical way to stay out of his office.
Lucky for you, we have a huge variety of shoes. Moosejaw carries a wide range of styles and brands for both the trail and the track. My favorites include Sanuk, Reef, and Keen. Stop in to our shop in Rochester to visit our knowledgeable staff or just to get a nice foot rub. But don't tell them I sent you.
Climbing? More like clim-bling. The wide array of precious and unique brands like Black Diamond, Arc'teryx, Petzl, Metolius, and Mammut will have you lookin', feelin', and climbin' like a million bucks. Before you hop in your G-6 and head to your favorite rock wall, make sure to stop into our Rochester shop for some chapstick. No one likes chapped lips.
Other than the brands above, we carry other climbing equipment like - the finest belay devices, a huge range of carabiners, helmets, ropes, and did I mention chapstick? While you're picking up all the necessities, send one of our shop peeps to get you a milkshake from Red Knapps Dairy Bar. You'll thank us later.
Backpacking is considered an art form in Rochester. People take it pretty seriously. Artists come from around the world - Bangkok, Florence, and even Kalamazoo - to see the backpackers of Rochester, Michigan.
However, the truth is our packs are really beautiful. Our Rochester staff and custys agree, there is nothing like the silhouette of a top-loading daypack on a burly gent (or Pretty) disappearing into the sunset.
Whether you're headed down the road for a day hike at Stony Creek, or through hiking the AT, we've got you covered. Our Rochester shop is chock full with the backpacking gear of your dreams. Everything from Jetboil cooking supplies to the best and brightest packs from Osprey, Gregory and Arc'teryx, our good-looking staff won't let you forget anything.
A night at the Rochester Mills Brewing Company can get messy. After a heated debate on the season finale of Lost over a few Milkshake Stouts, I've gone through two, three... fourteen outfits in one night. Some call that excessive, but I call it thinking ahead.
When you walk into our Rochester shop, you will notice a wide variety of clothing and brands. We've picked the best from Patagonia, Lole, Prana, The North Face and Mountain Khakis. Wherever you're going or for whatever you're doing, you're sure to find something here.
When nature calls, you have to be ready. Thankfully, Moosejaw sells everything you need for those quick changes. From badass down jackets to base layers, women's outerwear to men's underwear, swimwear to footwear, you'll never have to worry about your two, three or fourteen quick changes again.
Winters in Michigan can be rough. We've decided to be optimistic and have stocked our Rochester shop full of everything you'll need to survive those Michigan winters, look badass and have some fun.
We're carrying all the gear and apparel you'll need to hit the slopes including the best products from the best brands like Burton, Blizzard, Jones, Marhar and so many others. Plus we've expanded our assortment to make sure your favorite brands like Arc'teryx and Helly Hansen will have everything you need to hit the slopes.
Our Rochester shop is also offering a full service ski and snowboard tune shop. We'll be able to wax, sharpen, tune, mount and adjust your skis or snowboard. So rad.
