Explore Balaclavas & Neck Warmers at Moosejaw

Balaclavas and neck warmers can give you a boost of warmth for all of your outdoor activities this winter. At Public Lands, you'll find balaclavas and neck warmers for children and adults. You can choose balaclavas and neck warmers made from a variety of different materials.

Uses of a Balaclava or Neck Warmer

Balaclavas (ski masks) cover the entire head and neck, and many styles also cover the mouth and nose. This amount of coverage provides more warmth than neck warmers, and it helps prevent windburn.

Balaclavas are ideal for snowboarding, skiing and other winter sports. If you're outside for a long winter hike or camping trip, you might want to wear a balaclava on colder days.

Neck warmers only cover your neck, so they're most beneficial for casual use. You may want to wear a neck warmer for shorter winter walks or for running errands around town during the colder months.

Choosing a Fabric

Traditionally, balaclavas and neck warmers were made from wool. Newer fabric options include fleece, neoprene and acrylic. Public Lands offers all of these fabrics, and you can also select sustainable fabrics.

Getting a Water-Resistant Fabric

Public Lands has neck warmers and balaclavas in water-resistant fabrics and in fabrics that are not water-resistant. Neoprene and acrylic fabrics provide the best water resistance, and they're ideal for winter sports.

If you're planning to use your balaclava for occasional or casual use, you could opt for cotton or fleece choices. While these don't repel water, they provide sufficient warmth for everyday activities.
