East coast transplant and outdoor recreation dilettante. Sailing on the big salty lake (technically: Atlantic) is what first sparked my love for doing things without a roof, until I realized being outside on land is pretty cool too. Climbing rocks, plastic, ice, sailboat masts, solo backpacking, skiing, sailing, paddleboarding, and two-wheeling are the things I get into, and more recently gravel grinding and light duty mountaineering. I'm good at none of these things, but I try my darndest. Didn't realize I was a people person until I got into the outdoor industry. I absolutely love meeting new humans and hearing about their roofless ventures, and helping folks gear up for trips - to Denali, the nearest metropark, or Trader Joe's. Drop by sometime and tell me about your next trip, why you think Vail Resorts ought to mandate onesies, or the sound of your favorite smell when it pokes you in the eye just right.

Moosejaw, Ann Arbor Products
Jackets
+-If you live in Ann Arbor then you probably have at least 4 jackets by now. Obviously I've bought all my jackets from Moosejaw because we carry the best stuff from the top brands such as:Arc'teryx, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, and The North Face. Plus, you get a discount when you work here. So there's that.
You'll find a wide variety of jackets at any of our shops including: down, ski, water-proof, GORE-TEX, insulated, and softshell. We also are the best place in Ann Arbor to buy fleece or casual jackets for that cold midnight rendezvous at the Diag during the winter. For the late Spring streak fests to the Bell Tower, we'll probably be out of stock of whatever you think you'll wear (or won't). Also, crushed pineapple is better than ringed. That's all.
Footwear
+-Ann Arbor has more toe calluses per capita than anywhere else in the US. That's not true, but seeing people walk barefoot around here can be an adventure. Whatever your outdoor foot or shoe fetish might be, the Ann Arbor Moosejaw shop has something in your style. Moosejaw's been keeping it real with only the best men's footwear and women's footwear and even kids' footwear. There's rock climbing shoes, trail running shoes, hiking boots, shoes for barbecuing, pool-shooting, and shoes for making fun of your sister. When you're at our Ann Arbor Moosejaw shop you should also check out the selection of Keen sandals. We heard someone hid candy in those. Also, they are great for kayaking and canoeing the Pinckney and Waterloo Recreation Areas.
Climbing
+-I only started to climb so that I could tell people that I climb. Also, you should see the routes at Planet Rock. That's some gnarly type 2 fun, for sure! If you're down to learn to climb you should most definitely come into the Ann Arbor Moosejaw shop. We will get you all set up for trad climbing, top rope, sport climbing, gym climbing, and bouldering or whatever else you want to climb.
For climbing shoes, we've got lace-ups and slip-ons, from La Sportiva, 5.10, Scarpa, and other badass brands. We'll get you fitted for a climbing harnesses from Black Diamond, Arc'teryx, Petzl, Metolius, or Mammut. Then we'll also show you all the other fancy stuff you can use during your early morning ascents of Burton Memorial Tower on campus. Other stuff can be used at all Ann Arbor restaurants and acupuncture clinics. I'm talking ascenders, belay devices, including the Petzl GriGri 2, ropes, slings, and protection - all kinds of stuff really. We've got like a mega ton of carabiners, both locking and non-locking, plus quickdraws. And we promise we'll teach you what all of that means so you're sure to impress all the Pretties.
Backpacking
+-First time I went backpacking I lost my toothbrush. It was the worst. You should totally try it though. Come into the Ann Arbor Moosejaw shop and we'll outfit you for whatever kind of trip you're planning. Whether it's a simple day hike, a long weekender or an ultra-light excursion from Ashley's to the Jolly Pumpkin.
We've got day packs, top loading packs, multi-day packs and ultra-light packs from Osprey, Gregory and Arcter'yx. Camp stoves and cookwear from Jetboil and MSR. Thermarest sleeping bags, ENO hammocks, and down or synthetic sleeping bags for any season in and around Ann Arbor. You also might want a tent or something. We've got some of those too from Marmot, MSR and Big Agnes. Then of course all the other extras you're going to want like headlamps, water filters, and dehydrated meals and trail bars. I just gather nuts and berries that I find along the trail, but not many people can do that.
Clothing
+-Clothing seen on people from Ann Arbor can be described as a colorful blend of velvet, gabardine, and some occasional velcro. More importantly, at the Moosejaw shop you can find just the right clothing for whatever you're looking to do. Plus, we carry all the best stuff from The North Face, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear and Outdoor Research.
We've got the casual stuff like Moosejaw tees and hoodies. We've got moisture-wicking base layers and mid-layers made from cotton, wool or synthetic materials. You'll also find weather-resistant and quick-drying pants and shorts. We've got different types of socks and even some underpants. Almost forgot, ladies - we also carry a nice selection of yoga pants and tops from Lole, Prana and Lucy.
