In 1958, Yukio Yamai founded Snow Peak after becoming dissatisfied with available mountaineering products. Living his entire life in Sanjo City, Japan, Yamai was surrounded by rivers, streams, mountain peaks, and valleys. Through his mountaineering experience, Yamai based Snow Peak off of his interest for the rich environment as well as quality-made mountaineering products.
