Yakima Q-clips for the Q-towers are absolutely perfect as long as you purchase the ones which are correct for your vehicle. I never have to worry about my bikes for my rack shifting or moving at all. Follow the installation instructions correctly and your rack will be stable at highway speeds with out problems or shifting.
There are many parts on a Yakima rack that are optional...these are not... so you don't really have much of a choice, do you? I mean really, why are you reading reviews on the clips that hold your rack on!?! You have to have them... just make sure you're using the right ones by going to the Yakima website. I've never had a single problem with my roof rack... well... until I drove my car into the carport with my bike on the roof, which is evidently not all that rare. If you can avoid that you'll save yourself $5170!
It has been a couple of weeks now and I still have not received the Q-Clips from Yakima yet and everytime I call Moosejaw and ask for the estimated delivery time they tell me I should be receiving it any day now and a couple of days later nothing! I would appreciate if you could get to the bottom of this because I am very anxious on putting the bike rack onto my car!
Clips shipped separately from rest of order. Packing slip did not cite this fact. Surprised when only part of order arrived. A little note on the packing slip would help.
Not shaped like a Q at all, I would have called them A clips.. but who asked me.. Anyhow .. they are an essential part of the rack system and satisfy all my needs.
