I got this for light trail hiking and Kayaking. The Vibram Bikila fit the bill perfect. I have also used it for Canyoneering which included some climbing and repelling down waterfalls. So like I said before this things are great for EVERYTHING.
When my awesome new pair of Bikila's arrived I was ecstatic. Arrived in due time, packaged to perfection! Very comfortable for the most part. My small toe, pinky toe is having a few issues adjusting. Otherwise very nice design and color with 3M technology.Feels like I am walking barefoot but with more comfort. there is no unwanted pressure upon placing each step and therefore I rate the design quality and innovation very high.
"Spread toe formation takes getting used to."
After extended use (multiple consecutive hours) doing normal walking type activities my little toes of each foot experienced some cramping the first couple of times I used the shoes. This got a bit uncomfortable at first, but I no longer have any discomfort wearing these shoes. Overall this is a fantastic minimalist shoe option.
These are incredible. I love the Bikila's for the amount of tread and support they offer. The strap on the arch helps keep your foot from feeling flat after a long run, and the tread offers enough grip to engage in moderately aggressive sports such as basketball or frisbee. They are great for running, but do require you to build up to higher mileage. They are unreasonably comfortable and simply throwing them in the dishwasher will clean them up right and proper.
"First pair of VFF's and it was love at first wear!"
This is my first pair of VFF's. On top of that, this is my first product review. Although I have only had them for about a week, I already can tell I am going to have to buy another pair because I love them so much. I was concerned when I orded them online because I was worried I would get the wrong size. I measured my foot as instructed and, based on my 10 7/8" foot, I was a size 43. This was spot on. They fit perfectly! I am planning on ordering some Injinji socks to go along with them to cut back on the foot sweat. I feel confident that the socks will only enhance the already great fit and comfort of my VFF's.
I wear them as casual every day errad shoe, but I also have a pair that I workout in.They are a great running shoe and also are great for weightlifting. They really hold up well,I have had mine for now a year and half and they only have minimal wear on them. They have a more protective bottom than the Kso model in my opinion,so it make it a better shoe for long distance running, and also sprint work.
I had heard that the Bikila's were better for running than my KSO's. So after doing my research, I ordered a pair in the same size as my KSO's. Unfotunately, I have a condition knowns as Fat feet. Due to my fat feet I couldn't get my feet in the shoe. It had everything to do with the layer of fabric on top of the foot. I contacted Moosejaw, shipped my Bikila's back, and recieved a new pair one size bigger.Though the fabric is still a bit tight on top, all the reviews read that it would stretch after some use, and it wasn't nearly as bad as the original Bikila's I ordered.
I was initially very skeptical about the VFFs. As a walking (no pun intended) advertisement for vibram with their... unique looks and colors, I had trouble buying into the science behind them. However, after a month of using the Bikila's for crossfit/P90x/insanity type exercises, along with some shorter runs, I can definitely feel a change in my running. These shoes are all about training the balls of your feet, which will smoke your calves at first but really lead to amazing results.
Bought a pair about a month ago, and have been wearing it whenever... I wanted to keep it clean inside by wear injinji socks, but it's really more comfortable to go withoout socks. Guess I will just have to clean it often :)
