The PrimaLoft ThermoBall insulation is synthetic, while still being able to provide the warmth of 600 fill down. The Thermoball is hydrophobic and also traps warm air, allowing it to perform in cold, wet weather. Bring on the rain and snow! The new quilt pattern provides a more fashionable and flattering look so you can take it for a spin around town when you're not off exploring the woods. "This jacket fits well, is warm, and stylish."
I just love the Thermoball jackets by The Northface! I already have one in gray and I saw the Magenta color and decided to get a second one. This jacket fits nicely--I ordered a medium. I am 5'4" and weigh 115 lbs . I like to layer a fleece under my jackets, so I decided to order a medium, which fits comfortably. This jacket is surprisingly warm, even though it is light as a feather. I live in Michigan, can wear this jacket with a fleece underneath, and go outside in 15 degrees and feel warm. Its a very cute and warm jacket.
Bought this as a 17th birthday gift for my granddaughter. When it arrived in the mail, I was a little concerned because the package seemed so small. Well, I opened it and found a beautiful purple jacket that weighed just a few ounces. It looked so pretty but I was terribly concerned how warm it would be. It so happened that we were in the middle of a winter blizzard with wind chills down to 35 below zero. She put it on immediately and went outside. She was warm! She loved the color, the light weight, the style and, most of all, how warm it is. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay toasty warm without the bulk.
I bought this jacket in coastline blue. I usually run between a small and medium in north face grear, I went with a medium with this jacket with the intention of layering underneath. The jacket arrived as described and is remarkably thin but extremely warm. I did a test and went out in 25 degree weather first with my 700 down marmot coat and then with the thermoball. The marmot coat was a little warmer however I think the thermo ball has a great advantage for being so light and breathable. Im not sure if I will go with it on the coldest of days <20 F, but it is definitely warm enough for most fall/winter days.
I'm 5'2", 125 lbs and bought a M based on the fit calculator on the North Face website. It was too long from the shoulder to the armpit, causing the shoulders to ride up and the area between shoulder and armpit to blouse out weirdly. I ended up purchasing a girls' XL, which is slightly bigger in the waist but is better proportioned for a short person (its sleeves are about 1" shorter, and the shoulders fit properly.) Too bad The North Face doesn't make petites.
I ordered this coat for my 10 yr old daughter. Of course it is a tiny bit big however this is the color she really wanted and it did not come in the youth sizes. What a great warm coat. Also, I searched and searched to find this coat everywhere, then I came across Moosejaw. They have been fantastic. I have ordered 4 x since. I've had to return it's was so easy. What a great site to find. Most items always in stock. Thank you for making our holiday season.
I have this jacket in black and bought as alternative to my Patagonia Down Sweater. The Patagonia is a bit warmer but I have also layered the two and been nice and toasty. Love the light weight packability of the jacket. I take this with me wherever I go because it is so light. Recently took to Rome when temps were 40-55 and it was perfect. I cannot wear wool and this is a terrific sweater and or lightweight jacket. On a windy day you will definitely need an outer layer over this.
This is my third thermoball jacket. I had 2 from previous season. This 2014 version had some nice changes on it. The fitting is more slim fit, the diamond shape pattern is more horizontal. Sleeve opening and the side zipped pockets were BIG improvements. Warm, light weight, (like goose down) many colors options. Best of all, this jacket is machine washable. Love this jacket so much! I even bought the thermoball scarf!
