Bought the Metropolis Parker against my better judgement yesterday. It has a very skimpy hood which doesn't even cover your head. However after looking around at other winter coats I found that I liked that the Metropolis is lightweight and slimming so I guess you can't have anything. North Face really should do something about this matter...It's an easy fix.
Bought this as a gift for my wife to replace the one she has. Her previous one is several years old now - the tab on the zipper broke and she accidentally burned a hole near the bottom of the jacket. She loves her old one and I am sure she will love this one too (she better or I will be mad because she would not let me look at other comparable jackets that could have been cheaper)!! One difference from the old one is the color of TNF logos on the front and back are now black to match the exterior color of the jacket. Previously, they were white logos on a black jacket. Also, we are not sure if the sizing has changed slightly. Her previous is a small and I got her another small. It seems a little bigger than the old one or the old one has lost some of it volume over the years - your guess is as good as mine...Don't ask me for more, I am male...
"It's a beautiful deep jewel tone blue and so much prettier than walking around in a down comforter!"
This parka has a great fit so one actually looks like a female figure in it and I'm warm as toast. The ample arm length is a plus on any winter attire ...I can't stand it when my wrists get cold! We haven't had the Wisconsin deep-freeze yet but I'm looking forward to it in my stylin' Metropolis! Moosejaw has great cusomer service PLUS they give loads of free advise, just like my big sister!
Finally ordered this coat after trying on numerous times at the store. Also got a 50 gc...thanks cannot wait for it to come in! Went up a size so sweaters fit comfy underneath, the length hits perfect. I bought because I walk in between classes and its freezing!
This coat is like walking around wearing a blanket. It repels moisture so even in rain or snowy weather I stay warm. One drawback is I wish there was a way to clasp the bottom, below where the zipper ends. It can fly up in the wind. I'm 5'5" and a small is perfect. True love in a jacket.
I work outdoors in NW Iowa. I own 2 North Face Metropolis jackets that are 2 and 5 years old. I was ready for an update. Both coats are a medium, Metropolis, as was my order. When it finally arrived and I tried it on.. it was HUGE. The sleeves were 1" longer than both my other jackets, it was at least an inch longer and almost 2 inches wider. When I called in to chat line I was told that it was a problem with North Face and that they actually make them larger than before as the customers are getting bigger. I was so dissapointed. I asked your chat person if I should buy a small. I was told that it would be way too small.I love all my North Face outerwear but I am very unhappy with the changes in sizing.. I plan to return it without a plan for what's next. As far as shipping. Prevoius orders have always been fast, but this order, I had to chase down FedEx to get it almost 2 weeks later.
"Awesome product, lightning fast shipping"
The coat is awesome, and the price is awesomer.........Shipping is faster than jimmy johns, I couldn't believe my sparkling blue eyes when I received my coat within 48 hours, I was in awe, I was like, WOW that AWE's me. Customer service was better than #*+%, at least comparable. Thanks for everything I will definetly shop Moosejaw again.......
"Worth the money. It's lightweight, but still keeps me warm in cold Indiana/Chicago weather."
I was hesitant to spend so much for a coat, but it has already proved its worth in the cold that has come to Indiana this year. As a college student, I spend a great deal of time walking to and from classes outside. This North Face coat is well-insulated, yet still incredibly lightweight and packable. It's smooth, nylon outside was a selling point, as it makes the coat soft and foldable, unlike other water-resistant coats which tend to be stiff. The size small falls below my knees (I am 5'4''), so it's great for walking around in brisk, windy weather. It also has a double zipper and fleece-lined pockets, which are added pluses. There is one interior pocket with a zipper, which is great for holding ID cards and cash. Overall, this coat is perfect for practical use in cold weather and I anticipate getting great use out of it as the weather gets even colder. I am someone who is always cold and who hates winter weather and this coat makes me excited to go outside.
