"Best Tent I Have Ever Used (Though Slightly Heavy)"
I have used this tent in the Sierra, the Blue Ridge, on Rainier, in Banff, CO, etc. The only thing that has gone wrong with the tent in the 11 years I have been using it is the plastic screen in the vestibule rotted out. This was due to my leaving it in my attic for storage for years when not in use. The temps ranged negatives to 120 F. The up and down caused the glue over the years to loosen, but this took at least 8 years. It is like a rock hut in the wind. The guy lines, when set, keep the tent so tight that you could jump on it like a trampoline, although I have not tried this. I would take this tent in any snowy conditions and count on it. I also used it in HUGE rain storm in the Virginia Highlands, and not a drop of water got on my gear or me (GREAT rain fly). I felt sorry for the wild horses outside though. Also, NF has done nothing but improve this tent since I purchased mine. I have looked at the new ones, and if I didn't already have mine from 2003, I'd buy one.
"Love it to the point I just bought a second one"
I just bough my second mountain 25 from moosejaw fore more people on my next trip. This tent is was great investment, I've had it for a year and a half, and it's definitely covered the expense, and I'm sure that ten years from now, I'll be using this same tent. one con is that it's a little heavy (about 9 pounds)
I like this tent because of the very easy set up and its size (plenty of room); the only down side - condensation (as always) this tent does not have very good ventilation so expect water in the morning.
Make me look like a pro!I had the MH trang and now this one, and I love them boththis one it has a better rooftop, easier to adjust. The slleve system to put the poles is not very confortable, but it looks strongerO bought the footprint too, but floor looks strong and resistantgreat purchase!
