Wore these to the summit of mt. washington in the winter. super warm even at 0 degrees and howling wind. grip great on snow as well. takes some time to break in but well worth the money as they are about a fifth the price of actual mountaineering boots and they will get the job done in a ton of places.
Got this for my 20 year old son for Christmas and he could not be happier. No snow yet where we live, but he seemed to take on the persona of Bane from the Dark Knight - just by putting these boots on!
"Son Thinks They're the Bomb (says that phrase doesn't exist anymore)"
20 year old son wears nothing but Nike sneakers. Told him he IS wearing SOMETHING in the snow.....well as it is snowing here on Christmas Eve.....he is wearing them brand new out of the box and digging them too! Said he might wear these all winter and no sneakers at all - we'll see.
The shoes seem to be made of real good stuff. The day I got them I found out there is a rather long break in period for these boots. However that is not a bad thing in my eyes. Its really not been colod here so I can't say much about the warmth factor. But they do keep the feet dry as can be.They are comfortable now but I figure they will get much better. So to say it all they are a warm dry comfortable pair of boots at a cheap price.Ande I also feel they will wear a long time.Good move North Face.
