The North Face Men's Verto Jacket. Designed for climbing expeditions when all you have is what you carry, this wind and water-resistant jacket is an alpinist’s best friend in emergency situations. Made from seven denier fabric (the lightest fabric ever used in The North Face Summit Series), this hooded jacket packs down to the size of an energy bar and stuffs into its own chest pocket (weighing the equivalent of two carabiners). When I first got this jacket in the mail I wondered what I just blew my money on. The jacket is so light it feels like you're holding a sheet of plastic wrap. wore this jacket on a hike with just a base later and it was amazing. 30 degree temps and slight wind blowing this jacket kept me warm while breathing extremely well. I would wear this in an extreme cold situation but is great for when you're on the move.
This jacket is very light and compact. Packs into its own pocket to about the size of a cliff bar. I have used this jacket in some fierce conditions and I works pretty well. Leaks around the seams but nothing severe. Good piece of equiptment to keep in your gear because of its size. It seems durable despite looking like a trash bag.
This jacket is the best jacket i have. It is super ultralight and water resistant. The only draw back is that it feels like it could rip an second and when it does get wet it sticks to your skin. The material is very thin but it has not ripped.
This jacket does exactly what it's supposed to do and more! It serves as a super lightweight rain/wind shell when you're on the move. It dries super fast when wet and is mega breathable. The loop on the outside when it's stuffed into it's own pocket is awesome for hooking it to a carabiner. It's really durable for how lightweight it is (might now want to go bushwacking though), and the fit is nice. Great to have for ultra-light set-ups when it's warm out.
So, I got the jacket, first thing, even before you notice the weight, is how thin it is. This jacket is about as thin as a piece of paper. The jacket fits nicley, not to snug, not to loose. It only has 1 chest pocket which it packs into, which I don't like. The jacket is kind of breathable. I did notice I built up some heat fast in it, which is a good thing, but it didn't seam to vent it like it should. All in all, its a specific piece of equipment, for a specific purpose. A little high priced for what your getting IMO, but if you got the money to spend, it would make a nice addition to your rack.
