I use these on good long day trips and some longer backpacking adventures and they are great. these socks keep your feet good and comfortable in anything from pretty cold to really hot temps.. i would defiantly recommend them to anyone who need nice outdoor socks.
Used these when snowboarding in -18 degree weather. My face was numb but I could still feel my feet. The best part is they kept my feet from sweating. I also love these with a nice pair of moccasins when I'm chillen around the house to keep the chill off.
"Great sock for tough trails and light to heavy packs."
Love this sock for tough trails in the Northern Cascades. Great padding on the soles that make a big difference on long hauls with a heavy pack. I wear them with and without liners pending on the type of trip. Your feet are sure to thank you for the extra padding at the end of a week long trek. They also work well when worn for extended periods of time, just change them out and let them dry. Highly recommended
I swear when I put these socks on they stayed on for two straight days, less sleeping hours. Gross that may be to some but I was unwilling to take these off. I've hiked twice in them and they keep my feet warm in freezing temps. Can't wait to see how well they keep my feet dry in spring and summer.
A few years back on xmas my mom got me a pair of smartwool socks for the winter. Now, normally her gifts are misses and not hits but not that time. I have been a fan ever since. Quite simply, smartwool socks keep my feet warm, breath enough that I don't sweat, and don't slide around on my foot. There's really nothing more to ask for. When I started hiking last year I naturally tried out smartwool hiking socks. They strike a tricky balance of padding and breathability and oh I love them so. The bonus is that merino wool wicks moisture and doesn't reek after use. Why use anything else?
Forget all those modern synthetic blends. Nothing beats wool. It wicks better than the fake stuff, dries quickly, doesn't pick up smells and is durable. And if you buy Smartwool, you can be comfortable that they will be comfortable (no itch).I love these socks -- my favorite hiking socks.
