SPECIFICATIONS of the Smartwool Hiking Light Crew Sock
The Smartwool Hiking Light Crew Socks are very comfortable and will keep your feet dry and warm. I use these socks for hiking and just to wear around the house. In fact, I now only wear Smartwool socks in the fall and winter since they are so comfortable and warm.Although they are listed as a "Light" sock, they are warm and will make your feet sweat in warm/humid weather. If you are hiking in humid or warm weather, go with a lighter sock or liner. I have several pair of these socks and always bring an extra pair hiking so I can switch them out throughout the day if I am putting in a lot of miles. Great product!
SmartWool simply makes the best hiking socks. I have several pairs of the Light Crew Sock and use it for hiking and even at home in cold weather. These socks keep your feet warm and dry. The Light Crew sock is best for colder weather. If you are hiking in hot or humid climates, go with a lighter SmartWool sock like the PhD or even a liner. These socks are warm and will make your feet sweat in hot/humid weather - causing blisters FAST. If you use these in hot weather, bring a couple extra pair so you can switch them out throughout the day.
SmartWool socks have always kept my feet comfortable and dry. I bought 3 pairs of these in different colors for hiking and I love them. You don't really notice any bunching around the toes like you might with some less expensive brands. They stay up around your calf during the duration of your hike, too. Overall a great hiking sock.
These are my first time purchasing smartwool socks, and so far I'm impressed. They are very comfortable and are just magical when wet or damp compared to the cotton socks that I'm used to. Other reviews have already talked about what I like about these, so that's all I'll say about that. The con for me though is that these are kind of thick for a supposedly "lightweight" sock. I would prefer something much thinner and will be on the lookout for a more lightweight option from smartwool.
Everything Smartwool is advertised to be: cozy, comfortable, breathable, and durable. Obviously a solid hiking sock, but I was surprised at how fantastic they are as a replacement for the standard white cotton crew sock. After wearing these babies, you'll probably never want to wear any other kind of socks ever again.
