"Great backcountry boot. Stiff enough to rip the downhills, comfortable and flexible for the ups."
When locked these boots ski like an alpine racing boot. In uphill mode they are flexible, light, and comfortable. The indicator marks and toe design allows easy entry into Dynafit bindings. I also like the hinge design of the outer shell that allows you to open up the boot and remove the liners for easy drying. These are fantastic backcountry boots.
"This could be the one boot quiver you have been searching for"
Coming from a Dynafit Zzeus AT boot, but spend more time on slope than backcountry.Found this boot to be a little softer than I expected, since I thought the pebax would stiffen up when it was cold. Did some research on the Scarpa Maestrale RS, and found it to be more downhill boot than uphill boot, but with a phenomenal walk mode.Ordered up a pair from the fine folks at Moosejaw. Yes, the reviewers are abolutely right on the money with this boot. Firmer flex, a little different flex pattern than the Dynafit. The Zzeus is a alpine overlap boot style, the Maestrale has an external tongue that gives it a more progressive flex.Walk mode is a dream the upper cuff moves forward and backward freely, on a rod on the back of the boot. Super slick, no buckles have to be undone. Unlike the Zzeus, which has some movement, but it limited because of the overlap design.Comes with a nice Intuition liner, feels good and warm.
