The Scarpa Fuego Boot is a mountaineering boot with a classic style for hard work. The Crosta Pro HS12 is a rough-out leather upper, durable for the rigors of the mountains. The tongue is doubled for comfort and gusseted to keep out debris. The Vibram M4 Tech rubber outsole is sturdy and durable for kicking steps and can even handle a pair of crampons when moving through icy terrain. The tall cuff provides plenty of protection for foresters and wildland firefighters. Even Smokey the Bear needs back up.
I used this boot for wildland fire work. It held up extremely well and has no visible signs of wear on the uppers. Normal tread wear, even after heating up my feet to the point of being very uncomfortable on hot stump holes. Order a full size up f you are doing serious hiking with these. I order a half size up and still banged my toenails up on the descents. I have wide feet and found the fit o be close, but not too tight in toe box and perfect every where else. This is with the inclusion of green super feet insoles which took up a bit of volume and made the heel fit tighter, which was desirable. They took about 10 days to fully break in, so put some miles on them before a trip.
"Good par of boots that can be use for many different actives"
I bought these boots to use as my work boots. They work great as a forestry/prescribed fire boot. I have used them for a week of chainsaw work and a three day hike. So far and they have performed well. They are narrow in the toe area and run small. I wear a size 10 but bought a size 11 and I don’t think I could go any smaller.
