"One of the few ladders that will fit in my Arc'teryx pack." 10/15/12
I mainly use the Camlbak 70oz For my daily hiking needs. I bought this blatter because it was one of three that can go into the zippered bladder sleeve on the Arc'teryx Altra 65 pack. The main drawback to this bladder is that it has a very small opening for filling. They are made of a of very durable plastic that has not given me any problems with punctures and seems highly resistant to them. I prefer the eCamlbak Big Bite mouthpiece and after talking to the platypus rep I tried to change out the mouthpiece on the hose. In spite of what I was told by the rep these mouthpieces are not interchangeable whatsoever.
"Not a very good bladder." 09/05/12
Would look to another model. This bladder has an incredibly small opening in which to fill it up. About the same size as a bottle of soda. Other than that major complaint the bladder serves its purpose. The Camelbaks are so much easier to fill up and clean.
"decent hydration" 11/26/11
This hydration system is decent, but nothing special. It is lighter when compared to most other bladders out there, but filling the small hole is a pain as others have stated in their reviews. I would suggest bringing another small cup or wide mouth nalgene bottle to fill/sterilize water in first.
"Trusty but crusty." 10/05/11
Great durable bladder. High quality construction keeps/puts water where you want it to be. Nice mouth piece, offers sufficient flow. Without one of the large complicated openings in some other bladders, this one is less likely to fail, but it also means it hard to clean and you aren't fitting normally sized ice cubes inside. If you think ahead and have access to a freezer, just fill it up 1/3 the way, freeze it up, and it will keep the rest of you water, and your back, cool the next day.
"Great hydration system, just don't over tighten" 09/02/11
Bought the 2L for a trip to Yosemite. Did the Half Dome hike and Mt Conness. Worked really well for the entire trip. Bought an extra cap to make it easier to change between my other Platypus bottles without having to re-thread the hose through make pack. One problem I did encounter was over tightening the hose did lead to a leak. Just had to test it before I put it back in make pack. I have two other Platypus bottles and I can't imagine what i would ever replace them with. Did I mention that my buddies Camelbak ended up with a pin hole?
"Wish it had a bigger opening" 07/28/11
That's what she said. But also, the smaller opening makes it slower/tougher to fill as compared to your standard Camelbak. Its durable though and leaks less than my friend's Camelbak. Since there is no lock on the hose, sometimes when I put my pack down it opens the hose and I can lose a bunch of water.
"Great product, a must on any hike!!" 07/14/11
I love the platypus hydration bladders. It does exactly what i need it for and fits perfectly inside my osprey exos bag. Holds the perfect amount of water and because the blue hose keeps water colder longer. I love this and couldn't go without it on a hike or camping trip.
"Great product and works great in my Osprey Kestrel pack." 07/12/11
The cap maybe small, but my MSR water purifier has an attachment for fitting on Platypus products. Three litters is the way to go, although I primarly only carrie two litters in it while hiking. In camp it gives me a significant amount potable water redially aviable, also it fits perfectly in my Kestrel Osprey 48 litter pack. I look this hydration system and look forward to using it again and again.
