The William Triact-Lock Carabiner by Petzl is a manual locking pear-shaped carabiner with a large opening to accommodate for anchoring of several ropes and slings. This carabiner is best suited for organizing at belays and belaying with a Munter hitch and unlocks quickly in two movements for increased safety. The Triact’s large open gate is perfect to get a bunch of webbing or rope inside and it also has a super efficient key lock nose and gate with no snagging, making clipping into anything clean and simple, even during maneuvers. The red indicator provides a visual warning when the device is unlocked to give you peace of mind when you go to double check your gear. I like to take this one after a day of climbing and spin it around my finger, because I think it makes me look really cool, I could be wrong though.

"There are two kinds of people.." 04/05/13
Seriously, there are two kinds of people in climbing. Those that like twist-lock gated carabiners and those that like screw gate carabiners. The Petzl William is a gigantic carabiner and good for everything from belaying to setting an anchor. The only thing I do not like is it is a little tricky to open with one hand when climbing such as to daisy in to an anchor. Not that it's impossible, but that it takes more effort to open in a pinch compared to a screw gate. But then again, that's my opinion. Overall a great carabiner, especially if you like the twist-lock style!
"Every Climber Should Have One" 12/26/12
Auto lock biners are the best! This Petzl Triact-Lock carabiner also comes in a variety of colors, which keeps your gear distinguished from the pack. Excellent price for a reliable, quality product. CLIMB ON!
"Great carabiner" 12/20/12
I have two of these that I use for setting top-rope anchors. I like these for that purpose because they do not run the risk of opening accidentally if they happen to rub across the rock. It takes a bit of getting used to the motion for unlocking it (up-twist-push), and can a little tricky with one hand at first, but you cannot ask for a safer biner.
"Great Carabiner" 11/05/12
This carabiner I've had for a couple months now of extreme climbing. It's been slammed into rocks as I fall, banged, and dinged everywhere. It is already my most trustworthy carabiner. Very safe because you have to do three different actions just to unlock it. A great purchase.
"AWESOME biner....looks super cool too!" 01/05/11
I love this caribener. Like some other customers wrote...it takes a bit if getting used to with the locking system but once you have it down its sweet. You can use it with just one hand if your good like that! Its very heavy duty and the colors are awesome. More than the function it looks really good. It is very good quality materials you can tell by the weight.Nothing more to say except I LOVE IT!
"This is my go to biner" 12/02/10
I use this more than any other biner. It takes a bit of practice, but once you get it down, you can work this baby with one hand. i personally like the size of it. It seems to be quite durable as well, I do a lot of outdoor climbing (sandstone) and this has lasted over a year now! This would have shredded an Attache biner for sure!
"Oooh, soooo SHINY!" 10/27/10
At first I must admit, I was attracted to this biner because of the snazzy black and orange anodizing job. But then the triple locking mechanism really sold me. You have to twist it, then slide it up before the gate opens. SuPeR aWeSoMe!, right? Anyway, I love it and it matches my harness. It also is beefier in person than it seems in the pictures. You should get it for sure.
"Great for an auto locking biner" 09/26/10
Ive used the petzl auto locking biner less than others, but on a short weekend trip a few weeks ago I used my buddies pyrana figure eight with this biner and its the best auto locking biner ive used. I don't trust em, but everyone is using them now so I end up using them a lot whether I like it or not. This one didn't bind up, and while there not as easy to open, I feel much safer with the petzl style gate. It also works great with a grigri, while a lot of other biners dont slide to easy with one. petzl simply makes great stuff...
"This carabiner is great for beginners." 06/24/10
Just got back from a HUGE trip outwest 3 weeks traveling national parks. Did a fair amount of climbing. I've accumulated a few of these biners. They are worth it for people that aren't big into climbing but out there with you. DOn't have to worry about anyone forgetting to screw there gate up.
