SPECIFICATIONS of the Patagonia Women's R1 Full-Zip Jacket
I got this 4 months ago and I love it. I love to climb an it's awesome for it. The slim fit is nice because it fits under my harness well. Also I can wear it in the woods when I'm at work at the ropes course! It is nice and breathable but if it is windy it gets a little drafty. If you layer it with a wind breaker it keeps you nice and toasty :) I love getting new Patagonias and I would not hesitate it buy another one!
"I'm 5'10", 155 lbs, athletic build. This jacket is nice and long in the arms and goes to lower mid-hip. Fit is feminine and very flattering. Worn as a mid-layer, I can also fit one or two thin layers underneath (like a Cap3 and merino3). Working at a ski resort, I needed something warm and wanted something attractive - this gets a "10" on both counts. The web-chat guy was a great help with sizing, and told me I was between a Medium and a Large, so I got the Large knowing I wanted to layer it. If I bought another one for summer wear the Medium would probably be perfect over just a t-shirt."
I have an R1 from a few years ago and love it. I wear it around the house, dog walking, hiking, skiing....it can go anywhere. At the time I sized down to an XS as I wanted a more fitted piece. At 5ft6, 130lbs-ish and 36A this was a good fit for me. The new version however is more fitted across the chest. I had to size up to a S for the same slim fit. The length is also longer and I feel this is a nice update for a technical piece. No chance of that chilly back draft! I got the aloe green and love it! Nice and bright and kind of retro trendy with the yellow lettering so a nice casual look with jeans, sporty dresses and skirts also. Keeper!
The R1 is crazy warm and super soft, plus it's made up of these neato little fleece squares that are super cool to look at when you're close up. It's slim enough to fit under other layers or go up a size and make it roomy to fit over thicker base layers. I bought a larger and it was comfortable/kind of loose around the neck and shoulders but a little too baggy at the bottom for my taste so I returned it for a medium, which stretched out just enough after the first wear to make it perfect. It's like those hockey skates you can put in an oven and mold to your feet but better because you can wear it at places besides the ice rink.
I have very few pieces in my wardrobe that I would rate as perfect, but this is one of them. The fit is spot on, it looks great, it's super comfortable, and it's very warm for it's weight. I take it almost everywhere with me. I will probably get more colors. I'm 5'4" and 105lbs. and the XS fits just right.
