I can speak first-hand about the usefulness of the Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket. I've owned one for years and always keep it close by. When planning a hiking trip it is pretty much an auto-include, year round. You'll be ready for chilly nights, frosty days and it's always ready to be your pillow every single night. The Women's Nano Puff is filled with PrimaLoft ONE synthetic insulation which traps heat, even when wet. The outer shell is lightweight ripstop recycled polyester with Deluge DWR finish to shed moisture. All of this adds up to a very light 11.1 oz. It stands up to all you can throw at it and will excel as your go-to insulating layer in the winter. This year's model is even better as it has an improved fit through the torso and waist, and an added interior storm flap behind the zipper. Plus it has the classic Nano Puff “brick" quilting pattern that has been making brick houses aesthetically pleasing for years.
FEATURES of the Patagonia Women's Nano Puff Jacket
Lightweight ripstop recycled polyester shell fabric has a Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish, meaning water droplets will literally roll right off of you. So great.
The lightweight 60-g PrimaLoft One insulation provides excellent warmth and compressibility, making this a must have take-along on hiking and camping trips
Brick quilting pattern with narrow horizontal quilt lines on side panels stabilizes insulation, and uses durable thread for abrasion resistance
The brick quilting pattern plus the horizontal quilt lines also look super flattering and nicely show off your curves
Center-front zipper has a moisture-wicking interior storm flap, which means it's designed to move sweat and water away from your body
There is also a zipper garage at chin, helping to avoid irritating chafing problems and instead supplying next-to-skin comfort
Two zippered handwarmer pockets have clean-finished zipper garages, ideal for warming your little paws or safely storing your chapstick
The zippered internal chest pocket doubles as a stuff sack with a reinforced carabiner clip-in loop, so you can compress and clip-it onto your pack for easy convenience
Drawcord-adjustable drop-tail hem seals in warmth without allowing cold gusts to go up your back

So I ordered this jacket after much debate on if I wanted something synthetic or something down. I decided to buy this because synthetic is not only washable, but more compact and wasn't going to be less warm over time. I'm extremely happy I made that decision. It's ultra-light, and really easy to pack. The synthetic was warm enough on its own that while climbing in 20 degree weather I was comfortable and in 40 degree weather I took it off. (Go New England!) I wore it casually around town some too, and it was nice for just being outside lightly. I layered another (down) jacket over it for building a snow fort in 17 (ah!) degree weather and they were both comfortable, no tightness in the shoulders or anything. The length of the jacket and sleeves are amazing, and the pockets are well located and zip easy. The chest pocket is great when I'm not stuffing the jacket to put my phone in or money. All in all I highly support this jacket. It's great for everything, and should be used.
This jacket provides just the right amount of warmth without any bulk whatsoever. Great winter jacket when layering underneath and perfect alone for the spring and fall. Love the color options and fit is great.
"Great Product Well Worth the Asking Price"
If you want a jacket that will keep you warm and free from the wind in very cold conditions - Buy IT! If you want a jacket that you can wad up into a small ball and pack it away - BUY IT! If you are looking for a light weight jacket, that weighs like a feather and not weigh as much as a gallon of milk, while making you look as big as a sumo wrestler - BUY IT! If you are not sure its worth the MRSP and you think no jacket is never worth that price, so you highly doubt the purchase.....Let me tell you - Buy IT!
I've only had this jacket now for 2 weeks and its already become the favorite thing I own (granted, it is winter right now). After seeing how light, packable, warm, and generally all- purpose worthy this jacket was for a fellow traveler on our trip to Peru, I have wanted this jacket. I finally had a chance to get to a shop to try one on only to find it was too tight in the hips and too loose in the bust for me (5'2", 110lbs, pear shaped). So I started looking for other options. At another store, on a whim, I tried the jacket on again (size S) and found it fit perfectly???? After doing some searching at home and finding the jacket here at Moosejaw on sale as a "retired model or color" I realized it was the "last year" model that fit me perfectly- so I ordered on (bonus, on sale, gotta love that!). So, if you are looking at sizes, be aware that the prior models seemed to have a little more room in the hips than the newer model.
If you want to invest in a super light weight jacket, this is the way to go. It has better wind blocking power than its North Face counterpart, and is super warm. Doubling up with a shell makes it unstoppable.
