The Patagonia Women's Hi-Loft Down Sweater Hoody is an insulated winter jacket for wherever the cold weather takes you. The Hi-Loft version uses bigger channels to hold more of the 800 fill power down than Women's Down Sweater, keeping you warmer. The polyester ripstop shell takes on the wind, resists tears, and is coated with a durable water repellent finish to deter a light rain or snow from soaking into the jacket. The hood is insulated to keep the heat inside your brain box and is low-profile so it won't catch the wind and fly off when you're in need of it most. All the pockets feature zippers so you won't find your smaller items soaked in a slush puddle. Zip the front of the jacket up high and tuck your chin into the soft collar as you head to your next destination.

This jacket is the one, order it immediately!!! It looks gorgeous and it feels soft, light & is extremely warm, yet exceptionally breathable. Patagonia's attention to detail with this coat is exceptional. They nailed it. The fit is tailored and feminie - not bulky in the least. The pockets are perfectly located for access and still flattering. The material around the chin is perfect for when the hood is zipped. The bottom of the back sit perfectly with a great curve for an excellent, flattering fit. The sleeve cuff keeps the sleeve in place as well as has a nice tailored tuck to keep the trim look. Again, it is so warm, yet breathable. You will not want to take this jacket off. I ordered the small (5'4", 130lbs) & the fit was perfect.
"Geeeeeez Louise. Never taking this off."
This jacket is beyond amazing. It is lightweight, but does its job well. Even the most frigid of winds are no match for this one. It is so warm that when wearing it, I feel like I am part of a human burrito. I ordered a small and generally wear an extra small (or even a child's large or extra large in north face if I'm feeling particularly cheap). It is big, but not too big. I can wear several layers under it, but there isn't enough room to hide a few cats or anything. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. It is pretty water deterrent, which works out nicely for when you're cold and needing to take a shower. Just kidding on that. I probably wouldn't try taking a shower in it. In summary, stop reading reviews and just buy the dang thing already.
I bought the Patagonia Hi-Loft Down Hoody within the last month. I was looking for an extremely warm everyday down jacket. So far, I have used it for errands and light winter hiking. It is extremely light weight, packable, and has performed extremely well in Minnesota's wintry conditions. Would I recommend this jacket to others? YES! At 5'4'' and 140 lbs, the medium fits me well, while leaving room for layering.
"This coat is like wearing clouds, but better."
I'm 4'10, about 105 lbs and bought an XS in Tailored Grey. I cannot express how much I am into this coat.. I live in Iowa where the winters are brutal and this keeps me nice and cozy, not to mention it is super light weight. There is a front pocket to keep cards/a phone in which is handy. I only live a few blocks from work and often walk. I wouldn't recommend sizing up as this coat fits true to size. I have plenty of room to wear a big wool sweater under this and not feel like a sausage link. It's also nice to know that Patagonia offers a lifetime warranty if anything on the coat becomes defective, I can return it to them and they will repair it. Definitely worth the money. The only downside to this coat: the tailored grey reminds me of the stay puft monster in ghost busters when I put it on... but it also could double as looking like an astronaut hoody, which I'm totally cool with. So bottom line: there are no downsides to this coat.
I bought an M size, even if I am between XS and S (5 per 105 pounds): I wanted to be sure to wear sweaters underneath, it is the reason why I decided for the medium. It was too big for me and also too puffy in the front, while in the back was very flattering and it looks perfect. I chose the grey color, which was a very light one (too light for my taste). I was not totally satisfied with it, so I returned it.
"This jacket is bomb-diggity!!! It's like being hugged by a Wookiee in the middle of blizzard."
This jacket is the best jacket I've ever had. I get cold really easily, which is a problem when you live at 7000 ft. Flagstaff winter's can be pretty brutal (wind, snow, etc), but this jacket keeps me nice and toasty. I'm five four, 135 lbs, with an athletic/ curvy build, and the medium fits perfectly with enough room in the shoulders/bust and hips to comfortably belay someone. I purchased the dark blue color and it's really beautiful. I like this jacket's versatility- it's rugged enough to hold up to outdoor activities, but also a nice around town jacket. If you're highly concerned about looking overly "poofy" then maybe don't get the high loft version, overall I wouldn't be too concerned. I feel like the cut is pretty flattering, I don't look/feel like a Michelin man. However, if you're in it for the warmth, nothing beats this jacket.
