The Patagonia Women's Down Sweater is a down insulated jacket for mid layer or outer layer warmth. The 800 fill power down combined with the 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell creates a lightweight, compressible jacket that warms your upper half. When the winter sun is at it's highest and you're too hot for a coat, tuck it into it's own internal pocket and clip it to your harness or hide it away into your pack for later. No need for an extra stuff sack and it'll be ready to keep you warm once the sun drops. Two hand pockets toast up your digits when chilling around the fire, or zip a pair of gloves inside. Worn alone or under a hardshell, the new contoured fit and longer hem will have you cozy for the whole winter.

I have wanted a warm, hip length down jacket for years, but have had difficulty finding the "perfect" one... until now! In the past I struggled with the arm length and body length of the jacket, as well as overall boxiness (for reference, I am tall at 5'10, and slim 123 lbs). I had tried on earlier versions of this model in previous years and other brands, but never found anything that I liked. Finally though, the design of this down sweater works! It has nice long arms, a slim-ish cut and hits me perfectly at the hip. I went with the small for adequate room in the chest and ability to layer underneath. It is so cozy, warm, and comfortable that I end up wearing it everywhere. The only possible downside, is that it is not 100% windproof so if you wanted true warmth on a cold and windy day, you would probably have to add a shell over it for added protection. I love it so much, I even have my eye on the hooded version for the future!
I just received this jacket in the mail, and thus far, it has exceeded my expectations. I think that the fit is great; with the drawstring capability at the bottom, you can make it snug, or let it feel looser to fit more layers on underneath. It doesn't feel heavy while it's on you, but you sure feel warm in it. I was completely comfortable with slushy snow pelting down on me. The zipper pocket inside is a nice touch, too.
My sweater was delivered in just a few days and it is perfect. I ordered this particular one as I am on a tight budget and it was all I could afford. I was nervous about the color, but it is fabulous. I must admit I went to a Patagonia store to try them on to get the right size. Your sale prices are awesome. The "sweater" is very light weight but extremely warm and roomy enough for a layer underneath. I am 5'2", 102lb, extremely well endowed and the small was just right.
This coat is not only stylish, it is also AMAZINGLY comfortable. Moosejaw and it's wonderful sales encouraged me to buy this coat along with the wonderful company that is Patagonia. Two quality companies working together to bring you pure happiness. It's true to size, thin yet incredibly warm, and the color is great. Patagonia uses traceable down so you don't have to worry about wearing material from tortured animals. Plus they are a quality company all around. Great coat, great deal by moosejaw, two great companies seeking to fully satisfy their customers and then some..what more could you want?!
Guess I'm spoiled, but I keep trying to find a new Patagonia down sweater as beautiful as a special edition I picked up for a song several years ago. This model did not fit the bill. The fit is somewhat boxy, rather than contoured, the down doesn't loft as high as mine, the shell is a dull matte weave, and the waist drawstring control poufs out the bottom of the jacket. The performance I'm sure would be similar to mine, but the appearance isn't nearly as flattering as my other one. (I wear mine around town all the time because it's so attractive.) Even at the great Moosejaw price, I returned this one. I ordered the amber. Beautiful color! I am 5'7", athletic 140# and the M would allow a sweater underneath.
"lightweight and warm, but a runs a little small"
Received the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater one week ago. It is very lightweight and warm, but provides little protection from the wind so I would suggest a wind breaker or rain jacket when using is colder climates. Ordered the cobalt blue and it is beautiful, just as pictured online. Ordered a medium and it is a little tight in the shoulders and waist, especially with a layer on underneath. I am 6' 160 lbs. Always wear a medium in Patagonia. I tried a large on in a store and was way too big. Luckily it is warm enough that I most likely won't need to wear a think layer underneath.
I'm loving this jacket so far. I bought 1 size up to make sure I'd have enough room with a layer underneath and I'm glad I did. The jacket is cut slim in the hips and the M fits nicely. The S might have been a little skimpy around the hips. For reference I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs. The violetti is a fun color and looks very close to the color I saw online.
Bought this for my upcoming move to the east coast. The jacket is true to size. I'm 5'8" 140# and the small fits great. A shirt and sweater fits nicely underneath but if you wanted heavier stuff underneath maybe buy a size up. Love the cobalt blue looks great in pict and I was even happier when it arrived. It's warm and cozy and just the right amount of puffiness without making me look line the michellin man.
I think the name "sweater" is a bit misleading, this is a jacket/coat... I own two of these wonderful coats because they are the PERFECT weight and they fit great. Unlike other down coats, this coat isn't puffy, but still provides the same (if not better) protection from cold. I live in St. Louis, MO and last week it did not get above 20 degrees. I wore this coat every day and stayed toasty warm. This coat isn't just for the bitter cold, I've worn it in up to 50 degrees while still being at a comfy temperature. HIGHLY recommend this coat. (only downfall is that it cannnnnnnot be wet so snow days aren't the best for it)
Bought my wife the red down sweater and she loves it. Says its nice and warm (temperature outside has been holding steady at 15F in the DC area). Moosejaw had an awesome price compared to other online and local retailers. Shipping was fast and product came as expected.
