The Patagonia Women's Down Sweater Hoody is a winter jacket for technical use such as winter hiking or skiing to casual outings like backyard campfires. The outer shell features an updated ripstop pattern to increase durability, while still remaining as lightweight as previous models and a durable water repellent finish to deter light rains or snows. Windproof on the outside, the 800 fill power down also traps warm air to keep you insulated throughout. The jacket compresses down small, into it's own chest pocket in fact, so you can bring it along on any trip that may potentially turn chilly. Forget your hairstyle and pull up the hood to keep your ears toasty for the rest of the day. I'm sure your hair will forgive you later.

"Great quality, great fit! Patagonia never does me wrong."
I always do a ton of research before buying anything, especially when it costs over $50 because I'm a cheapskate like that. After shopping around for down jackets for a while I decided on the Patagonia Sweater Hoody. It definitely helped that my favorite color was being discontinued and on sale (Tobago Blue).I was pleasantly surprised by how small and light the box was when it arrived, good signs for the packability of this jacket. I am 5'6", 130lbs with a slender boyish build and really like how the torso of this jacket is not super short and boxy like many tops are on me. The sleeves could be a little more slender by the armpits for my tastes but I'm sure when it comes layering time and I'm out fishing I will appreciate the extra room. The waist falls perfectly on me, just the right length and circumference. LOVE THE HOOD. Love the texture of the material. Not too slick and garbage-bag-like. Love that it's lined and has an inner pocket. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
I love this jacket, but I do think it's more like a 'sweater' than a jacket. I meant for it to replace my big old puffy down coat and I don't think it's warm enough to be able to do that. It is very warm for its weight, but still not what I would call a full-blown winter coat. Having said that, it's the most comfortable thing I own and I wear it all the time, indoors and out. Small design details are very appreciated like the zipper pockets, well-fitting hood, simple cuffed sleeves. Range of motion is great. Even though it won't replace my big burly winter coat, I'm glad I got it!
Not only do I have one of these, but I have three-- black, white & tealish blue. I have had them for over 5+ years now and wear them consistently in the winter months. I order a size L (5'8, 160 lbs & a larger chest) and am able to wear a Re-Tool Snap-T Pullover comfortably underneath-- or a thick sweater. I always bring this jacket when I travel in the colder months because it folds up and can be condensed in a suitcase very easily. I love the hood on this jacket because it actually functions like it should. It covers the top of your head completely (and trust me, the average baseball cap doesn't fit my head- my head is big!) and it is always a relief when I have it on because I know I'm protected from the elements. The jacket is slightly waterproof, but you wouldn't want to be standing out in heavy rain for too long. Washes well, I put a tennis ball in the dryer to help increase the fluffiness of the jacket. This jacket is perfect for the Midwestern cold months!
Purchased this for my daughter who is in college in the Midwest and totally unprepared wardrobe-wise for the brutal winter. It arrived in the middle of a week of frigid temps and daily snowstorms and this jacket was truly a Godsend! She thanks us everyday for the jacket which is not only trendy (as every college student seems to be wearing Patagonia these days) but highly functional as well. This jacket is true to size and has lots of room even for a fairly thick sweater (such as the Patagonia Re-tool sweater) underneath. Parents: get this jacket for your freezing college daughters and they will love you forever. Bonus: I don't have to listen to my daughter complaining of the cold weather anymore! By the way I compared prices everywhere and got the best price at Moosejaw. Thanks!
Based on some other reviews I'd read about Patagonia coats generally, I was a little nervous that the fit would be too boxy or big on my small frame. It fits perfect though and isn't boxy and has a feminine fit. I am 5'4 and 115 pounds and the XS is perfect. Warm and cozy, and packs up super small.
I am very happy with my purchase of the Patagonia down sweater hoody. It is thin and allows for great mobility, yet keeps me warm during my daily hikes with my German Shepherd in January! The hood is exceptional! It doesn't blow off in the wind and keeps my head nice and toasty!
My gf was very weary of sporting one of these kinds of jackets - mainly because of the look - but I got one for her anyway since mine is so nice and she ended up loving it.Super warm for the always cold girl and doesn't look half-bad or doofy. When she puts a windbreaker/rain coat on top she's good to go all day. Just beware, the material is thin, and wants to rip. We both recommend almost always wearing a protective shell around it.
"Fantastic jacket - well worth the money!"
I absolutely love this winter jacket! This is undoubtedly one of the best purchases I've made in the recent years. The "sweater hoody" has everything I wanted and expected. I've been wearing it almost every single day since it arrived on my doorstep early this winter. It's very light, not bulky, and looks great. I have received several compliments on this jacket. I wanted a hooded winter jacket to get extra protection from wind and rain and this snug "sweater" keeps me warm and dry in any winter weather. I can also fit extra layers under it if necessary. I am 5'9'' 140 lbs and I purchased size M in the red color. The jacket length and the sleeve length are perfect. Overall, this winter jacket is a winner!
