"Perfect for cold weather camping and hiking" 05/14/13
I took this shirt on a 12 day Alaska mountaineering trip and it kept me warm! I layered a thinner base layer under it no problem. The zipper on the front was great for when I got warm. I was easily able to layer my two base layers under several other layers of warm clothing (temps below freezing most of the time). I am VERY happy I bought this shirt and would recommend it for cold weather camping/backpacking/hiking. The shirt did not restrict movement and was quite comfortable to live in for multiple days.
"Exactly what I needed" 03/21/13
This baselayer was exactly what i needed when we went to the Smokies over Spring Break. Temperatures varied from 30s-60s and it was great layered or solo. The zipper also went down further than expected and made it easy to vent or take off quickly. I was very pleased with this product. It also doesn't smell bad after being worn several days, which is definitely a plus!
"Warm, Functional, and Stylish" 12/31/12
I love this Patagonia zip neck. It's great for walking, hiking, running errands, etc., and it's flattering. I normally purchase size S or M in Patagonia, but I chose an XS in this after reading other reviews. The XS is even a little roomy, but it still fits. (I'm 5'6, 115 lbs.) The Sandstone Stripe/Rubellite Pink is a pretty color.
"runs big" 04/17/12
Sadly, like other retailers, Patagonia appears to be sizing up for fat Americans. I am 5'6" (36C) and I now wear an XS; I should not wear an XS. I have 2 of these shirts, both of which look great with the contrasting colors. My main complaint is that the external serging on the forearm seams, while stylish, tends to fuzz up with crack climbing. Fortunately it's less noticeable than the fuzz on my mountain hardware shirt with the serging across the chest, which has fallen victim to squeeze chimney routes.
"Great product! Careful on the size..." 01/25/12
This is another awesome piece of Patagonia clothing! I love everything about it, except that I wish I would have gone down a size. I wear a large in almost every Patagonia top I own, and should have ordered a Medium for this one. It is supposed to be slim fitting, so I recommend going a size down or it might be a little baggy. Still cute and functional though!
"Yoga and running approved" 01/05/12
Normally I wear other brands but wanted to give this one a shot since my husband likes the brand. Not bad at all. Seams were stitched nicely, color fits in with most of my yoga apparel, and the half zip allows me to use it for running in mild weather. I also like the slightly taller collar for when a chill picks up.
"Great all year round." 01/01/12
I love my capilene zip Neck. In winter I wear them when running in temperatures 40 and below. I like being able to zip it down to release heat as I warm up when I run. In summer I like to keep this shirt with me for after a run because your body cools quickly when you sweat and if you go to an air conditioned cafe to enjoy a coffee or a bagel after your long run you can get cold quickly. I put this on and it quickly absorbs the moisture on my skin and warms me up. In the spring and fall during those mild temperature months I actually like to just wear them as a top layer for a casual outfit.
"LOVE, LOVE, LOVE" 06/20/11
I want this in every color made. I'm 5'11" and weigh 215 pounds...the XL fits me well and is plenty long enough in both waist and arms. It's really comfortable for hiking/camping and cute enough to wear on a daily basis.
"what was that? your thinking about buying it?... don't think, buy it!" 05/02/11
Let me start by saying the Patagonia Capilene base layer series is amazing. I would own every piece if I had the money to spend. I took this shirt backpacking for a month in Wyoming and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. It is super soft, not itchy (like some wools), super breathable, doesn't absorb odor, dries fast, super warm, and is going to last me forever. I tend to get cold easily, but in 20 degree weather with this as my base layer, I was toasty warm like a marshmallow. It's perfect.
"Fabulous Baselayer" 05/01/11
I've done all kinds of things in this shirt, from climbing to hiking to hanging out in the bar. This top is cute at the bar, and has been wonderful in the rain and snow, and I've been wearing it for a few years with little sign of its age. It fits true to size, and is not itchy like wool can sometimes be. I would buy another one if I could afford it.
