I bought this jacket online without trying it on. It looks nice out of the box, but fits weird and looks strange on. Its just puffy, boxy, and has no shape to it. I feel like the Michelin man when I put it on. Its also not as warm as I expected. Its just sits in my closet and I will probably never wear it again.
I got the graphite navy which has a bright red jacket lining and is more purple than it looks online. I was expecting it to be grey or maybe navy but even with the color it is a great jacket. It's extremely light and very warm. I have a tendency to get overheated while wearing it unless the outside temperature is below freezing.
Bought this in store after talking to a guy who knows his stuff on backpacking in the winter. This is the one I chose because of how incredibly light it is (feels more like a t-shirt), it's pretty cheap for 800-fill down, and how awesome it regulates temperature. I've been in this with a t-shirt in the 20 degree range day hiking and at the new years party where the dancing made the room very hot, yet I didn't sweat. If I had to be picky, I'd say the fit is a tad boxy and the down shifts to either side in the back after you've been driving for awhile. Great jacket, I always trust patagonia to keep me warm for these winter months.
"This jacket is like a "big lovable hug""
I just love my Patagonia down jacket- it's sooo comfy and huggable. So I ordered one for my husband and son for Christmas. It is a nice weight for Minnesota's Fall and Spring and warm enough in winter if your running errands or were having a "winter heat wave".It is very packable too. Enjoy!
The product is very thin, and has a very boxy cut in the body. For an athletic build (broad shoulders, narrow waist) this style will let in a lot of cold air making the 'lightweight warmth' a moot point. For a 'regular guy' (i.e. fuller in the middle) this may not be as much of an issue.
This sweater is super light and comfortable. Great relaxed fit. Great belay style cuffs. Great feel to the materials especially the inside. Great range of use. This isn't an allweather jacket but I casually much wore this jacket pretty much every day for months with temps ranging from low 70s to low 30s. Really super comfortable and adaptable. Other good features: it packs down to less than a liter's worth of space and the three pockets have plenty of space (i never stuffed them down because i loved the super light feel). Also great for layering, put on a good rain-shell and you're ready for anything.
I bought this coat for my grandpa. He had a stroke almost 10 years ago and has trouble getting around. For him the most important features for outdoor items are if they are light and quality products. I read some reviews about this coat being the lightest and warmest coat that you can get so I decided to order it. I was a little skeptical about how warm the coat could be since the coat only weighs about 3/4 lbs. We he got the coat he loved it. I even tried it on myself and found the coat very well made and surprisingly warm. To me it feels way lighter and a little bit warmer than my Columbia down jacket that I wear right now. This coat fulfilled my expectations.A few cons:1) You get what you pay for. This is no cheap coat and you pay for its Patagonia quality. 2) Though it might seem it at first there really are not a bunch of color options to choose3) Not a super cold weather coat
