I got the large ( I am 5'11") and it is a little big for me, but comfortable. The black goes great with plaid shirts and can add something to your outfit. It is a great layer under a jacket. The collar is a little thick, but not uncomfortable. It blocks some wind, it is only a fleece vest, but you CANNOT beat how soft it is. I wish I could have a pillow made of synchilla.
Vest are perfect for southern winters. It rarely gets cold enough for sleeves, so fleece vests are where it's at. My wife actually nags me because I wear it so much, maybe I need to buy more colors. Anyway, of all the vests I've owned (which probably amount to a dozen or more) this is by far my favorite. It's slenderizing, comfortable and warm, you can't ask for much more.
This was one of a couple patagonia requests my nephew had for Christmas. It is a great extra layer for winter or a little added warmth for days that are not so cold. Looks great with jeans and casual with khakis.
"Worth the purchase for cool (but not cold) days"
I got this as a gift about a year ago and was thoroughly pleased. I am 6'2''/160 and the L fits quite well. This is best used for as a layer under a heavier fleece or rain coat or over a long sleeved shirt on cool (but not cold) days. Overall, its held up very well. Its not a very athletic fit(or maybe it is and I'm just too skinny) which could be improved upon. Pockets are a little high for my taste as well, but I never use them so, no big deal. Overall, I would say this is a solid vest-- but definitely buy it on sale.
"This vest is great for someone who gets hot in fall weather and doesn't like wearing sleeves."
This vest is great for days when you think it's too hot to wear sleeves but still need some warmth around the middle. Perfect for tailgating and walking around. Very comfortable and fits true to size. The black works well with everything -- I recommend a dark color. Great all around garment for outdoor weather! Versatile!
"This vest can really bring an outfit together!"
I liked this product so much that I bought it in another color. The vest is warm, comfortable, keeps my beer gut hidden, and generally looks snazzy. Their is plenty of space in the pockets for whatever you carry. I took the vest on an early fall backpacking trip. At night, it doubled as a pillow. I own the blue and the green varieties. The green goes with more and is a much better color, in my opinion, than the blue, but the blue is nice too. A must have for anyone who loves vests as much as I do!
"You're probably making a big mistake by not buying one."
I bought the (discontinued color) alpaca one for my husband and it fit true to size. I bought the women's version for myself and we both wear them all the time, but there are no signs of wear & tear. They hold up very well and are made with incredible quality, as are most patagonia items. They're great for those days where it is too warm for a fleece but you need a little extra warmth. Plus, they're made from recycled materials! Saving the planet and look good while doing it... what else could you ask for?
