Polartec Power Shield Pro is some amazing stuff. I rock and ice climb in this jacket and have yet to permanently scuff it. Line the Polartec with fur and you have a really great cold weather jacket, though gusty wind will blow right on through. Otherwise the Northwall tends to be a much warmer soft shell than a lot of people are used to. The fit is slim and trim. This jacket is a great stand alone piece for active days in the cold. The hood cinches down nicely and tends to stay put, even though the toggles and cords seem weak.Worn as a heavy base layer - the hood (which fits really well by itself) is too bulky to work under a shellOver all I'm digging this jacket
"Best soft shell jacket I've ever owned - If you're looking for warm and breathable this is the one."
Bought this for trekking in Bhutan. Fantastic jacket. Highly breathable and windproof. Used it for several weeks at altitudes around 4000 - 5000m (Snowman Trek) in a wide variety of conditions. If your looking for a jacket that combines the warmth of a mid-layer and a soft shell this is the one. Tough shell, plush warm inner. Good size hood. Pockets at the front are not really practical, more used for ventilation if it warms up. No other complaints.
"WOW! Someone finally made the jacket I’ve been wishing for."
This jacket is almost wind proof and very, very, water resistant. On the first day of my 2 week Alaska trip we went to Worthington glacier we got hit with a crazy down poor I stayed completely dry. very soft fleece lines the sleeves and hood. the outside matierl feels tough but is soft and non restrictive. temps down to 30F stayed warm with just a smartwool base layer under it. 5'9'' 158lbs medium fits great.
