"Great jacket; wish I could wear it every day; stops wind; just enough insulation; fits awesome(ly?)"
This is a fantastic jacket. The gore tex stops wind in its tracks. It is comfortable; fit is close, without restricting movement. Pockets are in the right spots and are the right size. It has enough insulation to keep you warm in activities without being bulky. If I am not moving, I throw on a light fleece midlayer and I am set.I would buy again after this one wears out. However, the way this is built, it is unlikely that it will wear out anytime soon.
This is absolutely the perfect Wisconsin winter jacket! With temps ranging between -10 to 40s and all weather from bitter cold, blowing wind to rainy, blustery days, this jacket has kept my top half completely warm, dry, and comfortable. Sizing is right on - I am 5'10," 175 lbs - got a medium and it's an excellent fit. Pockets and pulls are in convenient places. Craftsmanship is incredible. Nothing short of expectations for Patagonia gear. Would definitely purchase again in a heartbeat, though I know I won't have to purchase one for a good, long time.
Seems to be well made and should be warm. Good pockets. Had everything I was looking for but the fit is weird as are the size jumps. Im 5'8'' 175, 41 chest, 34 arms, 33 waist. The medium fit pretty well, snug not uncomfortable, arms right lenght but the arm pits ride high to the point of annoying and with a neck warmer I couldnt zip it all the way up. I tried the large and the arms are about 3 inches longer and rest is much bigger. The medium seems cut for a slimmer build and the large for someone over 200lbs.
"This is a great coat for all things winter. You can't beat the value or the quality."
I like my jackets more form fitting. At 5'11" and 200 pounds, I went with the M and it is perfect. I read reviews that said it was too tight in the shoulders. I am broad shouldered and I can see how it gets tight quickly with heavy underlayers. However, between the insulation and the goretex, it is unlikely that you will require enough layers to stay warm for it to even be a problem. I have taken some serious spills in this coat and it still looks as good as the day I got it. The powder skirt works well even without Patagonia ski pants. Haven’t skied with hood over my helmet yet but it does fit well. The construction is top notch and I plan on using this coat for many years to come.
I read a lot of reviews that said this jacket ran big and was too long in the sleeves, so I was a little hesitant to buy it without trying it on but had no other options. It is a little big, but I've found that it is perfect for layering (if need be). And while the sleeves are longer than most jackets, they're great for over lapping gloves. If I were buying this as a casual jacket or was always on the fence between two different sizes, I would buy a size down. But as an outer layer for cold weather activities, the fit is pretty good. Other than that, the jacket is awesome.

unlike most reviewers here, i dont hit the slopes too much. this jacket is for citywear for me. keep in mind, despite being insulated, it's not the thickest jacket in the world. you must LAYER with this jacket! but when you do, it is quite amazing! because it is made for layering (i.e. loosely fit but not too loose), it is very versatile.some ppl note that sleeve length is long. i agree. this is a good thing. but if you're concerned, try chatting at patagonia. they told me exactly how long the sleeves are and how to measure them. fits me fine!
X-Mas gift to self. Ordered with never seeing product in person and was very pleased when jacket arrived. Iam 5-9 180 and the M fit me just right. Went for a walk last nite 15f lite wind wearing new jacket with a lite fleece and was toasty. Can't wait to hit the slopes in the next couple days for the real test sure it will perform well...True Pata build Quailty...Seems very durable and I believe it will be with me for a long time to come...Great investment and Moosejaw...Will keep doing business with in the future...
"This is my 4th insulated ski jacket over the past 5 years. I've founf what I've been looking for!"
Over the past 5 years I've purchase 4 insulated ski jackets (I'm a pansy when it comes to being cold). One's to hot, another was to cold, another not good at keeping moisture out and heat in, but this jacket is spot on! I don't see myself purchasing another insulated ski jacket until my new Powder Bowl is worn out.
