For its weight, still quite durable. mine has held up to quite a few run ins with branches/brush. Limitless uses, great temperature range by itself or coupled with a base layer. get ya some

"Another excellent product from patagonia" 01/29/12

The Patagonia Houdini is my number one go to outer layer no matter what the weather! I wear it mid summer in the rain, I wear it in the spring for a little extra warmth and I wear it on long runs at -30 F. Excellent wind protection keeps you warm in the cold winter months and the lack of weight makes it an excellent summer coat.

"Always have it with me" 12/08/11

This jacket is more useful than i thought. It takes up so little room in my backpack. Great for biking on chilly days, it really blocks the wind. Also good for unexpected rain. Highly recommended

"I was hesitant, but it turned out awesome." 05/20/11

Saw it in a store and thought, "Why the frost would someone make such a flimsy jacket."Then I continued on wondering why it was so expensive. I tried it on, it felt alright. When it fit in my pants pocket, I was intrigued. I went for it. That was about 3 years ago and it is my most worn jacket. I keep it in a tiny pouch on my tree climbing harness and I put it on when the wind picks up while I'm up in the canopy.Stop reading. Just get it.

"Great, light, awesome layer/light jacket" 04/21/11

Good for just putting something on that is light sporty and presentable, so light you wont regret wearing it, packs small. Awesome layer addition.

"Does exactly what it is designed to do!" 04/10/11

I went to Cooper's Rocks for a bouldering adventure. When I got there, the rain was trickling, like the urine stream from my Yorkie's weewee. The jacket repelled every drop. Once at the crags, weary I would shred the fart thin material, I took it off. But when the wind picked up, I put it back on."Might as well test it I thought" I scuffed it up on some edge work, but the material is super durable and strong for as light as it is. When you rip it out of its self-sealed chest pocket, you start looking for the rest of it. GREAT GEAR! Great piece.

"Great For Backpacking Trips / Simple Lining" 04/29/10

This thing was so sneaky it escaped right out of the package... The Houdini packs well and having the hood was a plus for me. It's only a single simple lining that, like Houdini himself, can help you escape the cold high winds without clobbering all the space in the pack. I used it on a 35 degree New York Day as an outerlayer with a simple fleece and was still warm. The elastic cuffs were a little loose, but didn't cause any wind to sneak-up in. I only hope that its "tent-like" thinness holds up to sharp-rocks and to my buddy's slapstick behavior of letting trail braches swing back at me.

"Extremely light but durable wind shirt" 04/27/10

Packs amazingly small. There is no reason why not to take it along it is so light and small. Unlike many other wind shirts, it is very breathable.It is not a hard shell so don't take it out in horrible rain and come back here complaining you got wet.For all of you who don't use a wind shirt it is an essential piece of gear and I highly suggest trying one out.Also, as with many wind shirts I don't suggest going out bushwhacking because it will likely tear.Last thing...Many wind shirts have a reputation of having no longevity. From everything that I can read this is one of the VERY FEW that does not suffer this problem.

"amazing shell" 02/26/09

Can't beat what you get for a few ounces of weight with this jacket. Packs to tennis ball size, great for stuffing in a leaders pack or on the harness. Blocks the wind and repels rain unless it's a downpour. I was a bit skeptical when I first got it but it's my go to jacket for climbing and trail running. As you would expect from a jacket of this weight and fabric, don't climb off-widths in this thing, it will shred!
